Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 04, 2021 11:17 am We bought land recently and now we're trying to figure out what to build on it It's a quiet block with some beautiful views (west-facing thought) We went ahead with one architect/builder company and got pretty far, only to realise that we're not particularly happy with what we were getting: a 3-storey rectangular house at the top of the hill, which would require cutting into the hill and quite a few retaining walls. (chances are it was our own fault, as it is the first time we're building and we had not idea what to look for, what is important, etc) We're now looking at starting from scratch and instead trying to design something more 'organic', sustainable, potentially split-level. I.e. would be good to work with the land, rather than cutting into it. We don't need a luxury house (neither we cold afford it), but we don't want a cheap one either: our budget is a strong mid-level one I'd say. Neither we need anything really big. Could someone recommend architects based in Brisbane with proven records of designing something that we're after ?
