Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 27, 2021 6:26 pm We've just signed a contract to build our new home. Shortly after our builder sent us a variation request for gutter on brickwork due to build-to-boundary. The gutter cost is around $400 - $550 per metre. This seems insanely high to us. We're new to building and want to get a feel for if this type of variation request is normal, and if the pricing is high? Re: Gutter on brickwork cost 3Aug 29, 2021 12:40 pm Yeah, absolutely they knew and the build to boundary is on the siting which is an appendix to the contract. However, they're telling us that "regulations have changed" since we signed the contract, so they have to change the method by which they're installing. They sent us the variation less than 30 days after signing the contract - it's a fixed price contract. Ask for a reference to claimed regulatory change. If they are ethical, they would have provided it with their variation claim. 3in1 Supadiverta. Re: Gutter on brickwork cost 7Sep 17, 2021 12:10 pm It helps if you are given the correct Certified Details, then you can scrutinise the work and costs involved In the below example the trades aren't paid any more The swapping of the eaves ie, roofing, rafters and lining, etc is almost equivalent to the extra brickwork costs, but the builder isn't going to tell you that. Lack of documentation and clarity allows the builder to gouge back costs while battlers are non the wiser OT, the builders have been ripping owners and trades off for years with variations. Now the boots on the other foot with covid, shortages, price increases, etc Trades are going after the builder for every extra $$$ they can scrounge Cheers Chris Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Gutter on brickwork cost 8Sep 19, 2021 7:07 pm MintyLeaves We've just signed a contract to build our new home.
