Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 24, 2021 1:20 am My son is building a house in Brookdale, WA. The site report originally stated footing classification of D10V, but a revised site report has stated a need for SJ10 footings, I can't seem to find any information about what the difference between the two is or even to explain why the change was needed. The block is a flat sand block with no trees and is already retained and fenced, is anyone able to give any advice on the two types of footings, thank you. Re: Need help understanding footing classifications 2Aug 24, 2021 9:39 am They are both Structerre Engineering footing details, a D10V has a slab thickness of approx. 80mm thick, with no reinforcing mesh in the footing, a SJ10 is a 155mm thick slab with reinforcing mesh in the footing and z bars to tie the footing and slab together, it will be a fair bit of additional cost as your nearly doubling the thickness of the slab. I would call Structerre Engineering and ask them you have a query on a site report and why it changed. ask the surveyor for clarification would be the logical approach 1 20132 yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 7311 PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you. Cheers Simeon 1 10230 |
