Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 16, 2008 10:59 am Hi Guys,
Think that it'll be worth while looking into getting a building inspector to assess the work done by my builder when they each stage. We are building with M and I've heard some horror stories that I assume that could have been avioded if an inspector came in and assessed the worked. At the momemt their just started laying the slab. Just wondering if anyone out there has a good inspector in mind in Vitoria's Western suburbs, that they'd like to pass on their details. Also what sort of prices I'm looking at for the inspection for the entire construction stage. If anyone can help out that be great. Re: Builing inpectors during construction 2Oct 16, 2008 3:33 pm Have you tried BIG KEV from http://www.newhomeinspections.com.au/ ?
He can be hard to get a hold of at times but when you do get a hold of him he is worth every cent. We are using him through our entire building process. He is very thorough and helpful. http://www.rentfreeatlast.blogspot.com/ Building in Berwick ----------------------------------------------------------- "Flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss." - Douglas Adams Re: Builing inpectors during construction 4Oct 17, 2008 7:51 pm BlackRain Have you tried BIG KEV from http://www.newhomeinspections.com.au/ ? SonnyG, definately New Home Inspections. He is hard to get hold of sometimes but keep ringing his mobile number. Kevin is worth his weight in gold. See my previous thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=9579 Re: Builing inpectors during construction 5Oct 17, 2008 8:17 pm I've used Kevin a few times on our build. He is good, but the only note of caution I'd sound is that he is very busy and can be slow getting reports back, which is very frustrating for all, as effectively nothing happens until the builder knows what needs to be rectified. I think you might struggle getting him to the western suburbs, as I think he's getting picky about where he works, and he's based in the South-East. Good luck!
(Oh, and don't ring him over and over again - this probably makes it less likely he'll call back...) I guess God didn't use subbies... (Oh, and don't ring him over and over again - this probably makes it less likely he'll call back...) I spoke with Kevin today. Recently he is very easy to get hold of. There was a time when he went away and no one could get hold of him. Try the mobile and emails, he will get back to you. He has message bank and make reference to this forum. As for being picky, this may be the case but it is because he is getting so much work (probably from this forum) that he can't keep up. He works by himself hence the late reports as he has many to write. But he has always answered my calls, attended on time, and provided the report within two business days. All good. Call him if you like, if he can make it to the Western Subs he will. Can you give advice on how to get missing certificates needed for a form 21?
