Building A New House

We had a false start under the grants to build our next home. We pulled out at the contract stage due to broken promises (increased prices) and a lack of confidence the builder would meet their obligations to get the grants.
Our place is a knock over and rebuild, and we don't currently live there. We both rent and rent out the place to be built on, with a net difference (deficit) of about $800 a month.
So given the progression of the grant builds through the pipeline, is it an ok time to start conversations with builders? or are prices sky high still and service horrible as it was before?

It's a difficult question to answer, and there might not be an answer to it. It's the same as asking if it's a good time to buy a property. Looking back 5 years, would it have been a good time to buy back then? Some people probably wish they had purchased rather than waiting 5 years ago.
