Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Aug 14, 2021 11:37 pm I went to visit my build today to find my neighbour has erected a dark gray colorbond fence. I didn't get an invoice or any permission from them in doing so. However, every other house in the estate has a cream fence. My concern is having two different coloured fences on either side as likely our other neighbour will finish construction first and add a cream fence to match the rest of the street. What's the best way to go about this? Re: Neighbours erected a fence in a different colour 3Aug 15, 2021 8:27 am Paint wss cheaper than a fence the last time I looked. 3in1 Supadiverta. What's the best way to go about this? It may well depend on which state you're in and what stage your build is up to. For instance in WA if their build is habitable and yours isn't they don't have to consult with you before they errect the fence but you will still have to eventually pay half even if you're unhappy with the colour. Your scenario is very common in Perth. Paint doesn't cost a lot. Funny thing is we painted a cream colourbond fence woodland grey. I personally find that dark colour fences seem to disappear once you put plants in, whereas cream or light fences always stand out and make a yard look smaller.
