Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Apr 22, 2022 4:56 pm Hi I'm trying to connect with people currently building Langford Jones Homes. I'm currently building with them - not that they have even started and it's been months. I'm wanting to know what other people's experience is. As soon as a contract was paid and they got their deposit they have been shocking . Re: Anyone building with Langrford Jones 2May 01, 2022 1:27 pm We signed a contract to build in Mid, 2020. We are now approaching 2 years since contract and Langford will not communicate or provide any completion time frame. I am interested to discuss what options we have. Hi Cheryl, I advise you to carefully read your contract and if Langford breach any of the conditions you can cancel the contract. We signed contract mid 2020 and were told to move out and demolish. The Building Permit was issues just before the 120 days allowed in the contract. We are still waiting for the build to finish. There have been no trades onsite since November and we have no idea when the build will finish. Re: Anyone building with Langrford Jones 4May 03, 2022 9:18 pm bruce22 thanks for the advice I'm currently looking into getting out of the contract as they can't fulfill it. The problem is we've lost so much time and we have to almost start from scratch with another builder...nightmare but I think it would be worse to start and be stuck with no options. I would be going to the DBDRV for dispute resolution. Re: Anyone building with Langrford Jones 5May 04, 2022 9:36 am Hey cheryl charilaou-ung Welcome to the forum What builders are hoping for, is you absorb the current price increases, accept the 12 month delays in construction, change the contract by variations to suit the builder, material substitution, poor workmanship and non compliance, etc, etc. and lol, let them get on with their build otherwise you're stuck in nowhere land (ie possession less), not a good idea with rising interest rates and cost of living? As for the regulators taking them to task.. they don't have the guts, so it become a civil court matter. If you start all over again, next time be better prepared, otherwise there is a high probability you'll end up on the same page with another builder. I have had very bad experience with getting my defect list attended to. Got no flowing water in kitchen for starters. Sub standard work throughout which they wont rectify . As we are in the same boat and looking to get out with LJH and try and recoup as much of deposit payment and the upfront variation payments they required.
