Hi All, I have purchased land and in the process of building (yet to commence), but in the meantime, I have been asked by my local council that when I move into my house, I will need to plant 1 x tree 2m x 2m in my front yard. As my front yard is only 4 meters in depth (from front fence to front door) and 10 meters wide I personally think this will be too big for such a small area. What do you guys think? Thank you for any advice you can provide.

Most councils have similar rules. Some of them even specify what pieces you need to plant. I wouldn't worry too much. Some are even happy if you use a proper landscaper. Alternatives you can plant a baby tree and show them that this type of tree normally grow to 2x2m when mature. And a year later, the tree dies of "nature causes" if you know what I mean. What can they do.
