Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 28, 2021 1:23 pm Hi All, Probably should have checked this earlier but better late than never! We're building in a relatively new estate and our home build plans has the garage being extended up to the boundary wall / retaining wall (to sort of utilise the triangular area of our plot). Based on the plans, the garage wall will continue on from the existing retaining wall, The plan has yet to go through the council approval and I can only assume the builder has gone through all the state/council requirements/guidelines in developing our home plan before giving us this option to extend garage up to boundary/retaining wall (i.e. if it wasn't allowed, they wouldn't have gone through all the drawings/plans to give us that option in the first place knowing it would be rejected by authority when it goes for approval). So assuming this is okay (fingers crossed)! Has anyone built like this (with garage wall up and continuing from boundary retaining wall)? If so, have you faced any issues (extra weight on retaining walls? Complaints by future neighbours...etc?) Was there anything missed that caused problems in the future?
