Browse Forums Building A New House 1 May 21, 2021 7:43 am Hi everyone We have missed the boat on a fireplace. We have signed contracts and apparently it's too late to add a fireplace - not even as a building variation. This is why I am now wondering how difficult it is to install a fireplace after handover? Has anyone had any experience with this? Thanks. If not then you will be responsible for floor covering cracking ie tiles Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Fireplace install after handover 3May 21, 2021 10:57 am We did a fire box after handover in late 90s,ended up adding blueboard ,then rendering with box being outside of exterior wall. Probably would need maybe 3 different trades depending on what's inside and outside of house. It was well worth it but too long ago to remember costs. Re: Fireplace install after handover 4May 21, 2021 11:51 am Your biggest problem is that you will be the second builder interfering with first builder's work. It may place you in a position of blame if something goes wrong or at least blurring areas of responsibility. If you do it make sure it is properly assessed and properly constructed. We have a large N/W facing window and are wanting to have a wood slow… 0 11135 No the fireplace doesn’t work. It’s been enclosed. I’m not sure what was removed, as it was done quite some time ago - well before what I can see with photos online… 2 9119 I would probably render it and then paint it as per your other advice, or gyrpock over the top. 1 925 |
