Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes 561Aug 22, 2009 4:59 pm Hi All, A new thread would be great as there are heaps of pages now. I can't believe that you can get everything done in the 90 days. We had 180 days and still went over. I doubt they have employed more people to get you through quicker. KKatt, I can't believe that you are still in council. How can neighboring councils be so different. Mrs Rose - Rant all you want. I certainly have. Hope it all works out for you. We went to the block today and found a Port a loo. We got very excited so hopefully a fence is not too far away. Should I start my own thread or just keep putting updates in the new one? R Hi R, I was wondering how you guys where going as i havent seen you on here for a while.A port a loo, thats great.(how funny does that sound! )...No thats great.Did they give you a start date? Will have to go for a drive there and have a looksee soon. Council,i know, what a joke!! My main concern at the moment is getting the contracts,im praying they will be ready by the end of september for FHOG Re: Masterton Homes 563Aug 22, 2009 10:37 pm Kkatt, is there anyway of knowing how close you are to coming out of Council. I'll let you know when we having something more interesting than a loo. I can meet you out there. Are you using any of the FHOG for the house? We are and Masterton wanted a letter from the bank saying that they had lodged it. After you have signed the contracts, they should send you a copy of the contract to take to the bank and then they will pay the 5% from your loan (this is what we did, not sure if your circumstances are the same.) Then they will do the FHOG. We had our contracts on a Tuesday, signed them and sent them back the same day and they were back to us by Thursday. Not sure if the mail is the same from your place to Sydney but it might pay to post them from G. R Re: Masterton Homes 564Aug 22, 2009 10:47 pm Hi,R, Yeah not really sure how the whole FHOG works, just figured the bank and masterton would let me know. I rang council a week and half ago they said it was in engerniring (that spelling doesnt look right lol) and it would be another 2 or 3 weeks after it comes out of there so just waiting and waiting By the way yes i think you should start a building thread Re: Masterton Homes 565Aug 22, 2009 10:56 pm kkatt, I will have to work out how to post photos. Also another thing Masterton need, is a Letter of Commencent from the bank saying that you have the funds available. Ours took a few weeks of chasing the bank so you might need to start that now so it is ready to go. Can you sign contracts before it is out of council? R Re: Masterton Homes 566Aug 22, 2009 11:14 pm We have a unconditional approval from the bank which masterton already have.I think we can sigh the contracts before its out of council. Our sc has told head office we need our contrats started. Re: Masterton Homes 567Aug 23, 2009 11:34 am Hi All, For those of you who have their building contracts, can I ask how quickly were they provided? ie timeframe from pegout, council approval etc Hi R, I think its time you had your own thread (and congrats on the portaloo ) - I think we all need our own thread to keep everyone up to date (we can all subscribe to check out new posts) and prevent this thread from becoming inundated with additonal info. Keep this thread for generalised Masterton questions... Hi Mrs Rose We recived our contact last Thurday. That was close to 6 months from our deposit. I have been told that after we sign the contact plans will be submitted to council in about two weeks. From what I can gather things might have changed a bit with the way they do things. I have spoken to a few people who got their contact after council but we were told the contract must be signed prior to council. Hope this helps. We received our first lot of plans on 09/08/09. We are now waiting for an updated tender before we sign off on another set of plans to go into council. I would think that we are running on track to be ready before 90 days are up and I'm surprised so many of you are having so many probs. I agree that they are slow and am inpatient myself but if we don't make it within the 90 days and it's not our fault from changing things and delaying things.... then it's their fault and they can't impose any extra charges to us... Do you guys think I am running on track or is it where I'm at noe where it all starts falling apart? (btw - has a new thread been started yet??) Hope you all enjoy. The link is in my signature. Here is the new thread for Masterton - the new thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22483 R Re: Masterton Homes 572Aug 24, 2009 5:09 pm MrsRose Don't believe them when they tell you that CDC is quicker. While it will only take the Certifier 2 weeks to sign off on the plans they will actually take many weeks to submit it to the Certifier (I think it took over 7 weeks). We're starting to think about walking away from Masterton even though we've got through Complying Development - we still don't have our building contract and the door change that we made during colour selection in May they called today after 4pm (promised 2 weeks ago that everything would be finalised today and obviously they started looking at it this afternoon) to say we can't have our wider door and wanted an answer on the spot as to our decision. It is getting beyond a joke. If this is a sign of how things are going to continue we're getting out of it and take our chances with someone else. I totally understand how you feel MrsRose! Hope you can overcome your frustrations and disappointments towards masterton. I don't know what to say at the moment since your the only one building the fernleigh aside from us but I hope everything will get back on track with your building process. What's the reason why they did not allow you to have a wider door? Were you increasing the size of internal doors? Ours is 1200mm wide X 2340mm High Newington XN5 front entry door ($571). The front door is being widened to 1200mm while still remaining 2040mm standard high they are charging us $780for our door - wish we'd got the same quote as you - they love ripping us off! We were originally told that a sidelight would remain, they only told us Friday that the sidelight wouldn't fit after being told in Colour Selection in May that it would. So it looks like they are charging us $300 more than you for a smaller door (we're also getting the XN5). Aaargh!!! Your CSC should have told at the beginning that sidelight won't fit if you widened your door to 1200. We are also having a high ceiling that's why our door height is also adjusted. But I don't understand why they're charging you heaps of $$$ for that since you not getting the side light anyway. I actually emailed my CSC about the $7000 promo of mastertom which I found on their website today (but did not inform us) and will see how it goes. A battle axe so they had to provide some allowance for handling. also the house needs to be a split level (so that is an extra too). we got a quote from another builder, similar external walls and size.. the site cost was off by around 2k i think. So I guess they are not overpricing. buildingadreamhome lizzy stardust Hi Reneegogh, We're building with Masterton. Our fixed site costs in our tender came to around $19,500. We're doing a knockdown rebuild in an established area. Hey Lizzy That's such a better price then what we got. What's the nature of your block? Any slope? Easy access? We are also in an established area with 1m fall left to right and quite a bit of rock (but that was included in provisional site costs not fixed). Hi ESM we are building on a sloping block (2.5m) to the front - masterton quoted around $27k for site costs - this is with 900mm cut (max). Where are you building and which design.
