Currently in the process of organising a knockdown rebuild in the south/eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Block is on a high slope. 550sqm approx.
Currently getting told mixed reviews from many people however would like to have more insight from members of this forum if possible.
What is the best options when it comes down to a more complicated build. My budget is roughly 350-400k.
Boutique builder? Owner builder? High volume builder?
I've looked at Metricon Vantage 36SL and they've advised it will most likely fit on the block, however the floor plans and designs possibly aren't that suitable.
Some people have said engage a builder to complete the build up until lockup, then engage trades myself (painter, tiler, plasterer etc). I do have a few friends in the industry which may be able to assist in that field.
Any advise would be great or if people have been in similar situations what avenue they took in building.

I would be very surprised if you can get a house that size for your budget on a sloping block. Even if you go OB it will not be enough unless perhaps you do all the building work yourself minus plumbing and electrical. We are owner building a 380m2 house on a sloping block and it will cost us a minimum of 600k not including landscaping. That’s with us doing a good chunk of the work our selves too.
