We are entertaining the idea of darker doors than "normal" in our upcoming build and have seen a couple that look really nice although I think you have to choose wisely between cupboard doors, bench top, walls and flooring. I am so over the "Hamptons" look with everything white or close to it that seems to be so prevalent around us here on the Northern Beaches. Our facade is more mid century modern, we are on acreage in Sydney’s north west, i wanted warm, easy to live with and a little different. I dont believe in building for resale (unless that was your main reason), more about what I like. When it comes to selling some will love it some wont. I was concerned about light but we have massive windows allowing so much light in, there was a lot of thought about balancing the colours, and i think the white stone bench top and splash back keep it light. Weve just been signed up for a TV show (filming in a few months), so i figure, Ive done something right! Our upcoming build is a retro design also, more Art Moderne than anything. We like Art Deco but it can be a bit harsh looking so went with more flowing lines and a softer approach.
