Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 31, 2021 12:36 am The wall remote for my property stopped working recently, roughly 15 months after we moved in but ~17 months after the garage door was installed. The red light on the wall remote still turns on but the door does not open/close. I have spoken to Steel-line and they have told me they will have a look if I schedule in an annual maintenance ($160), which I think is not appropriate as these are two separate issues. I can still operate the door using my portable remotes. The door opener now beeps 6 times every time it operates to remind me to get the garage serviced, which is very annoying and the normal manual does not tell you how to turn it off. I have been told that the wall remote is not covered under warranty anymore as the 12 month warranty period has expired. Does anyone know if Australian Consumer Law applies? I would expect a wall remote to operate for much longer than 15-17 months. Reading the recent reviews for Steel-line (WA), there is another guy who has a similar issue, though his stopped working within the warranty period. They are asking him for $50 to replace the unit. Re: Steel-Line (WA) Wall Remote Stopped Working 3Mar 31, 2021 9:38 am Is the warranty subject to you getting a yearly service? Is it possible the the battery in the wall remote is flat? Who was the door installed by? Hopefully not by the agent in Willetton because if it was them you're in for an ongoing struggle. Steel-line is the manufacturer and installer. Althom, good point, I will check but as the Warranty has expired I think they will ask for $160 for the service and $50 for a new wall remote, when really I want them to replace the wall remote at no cost to me as the unit has failed much earlier than one would expect. Hence why I asked about Australian Consumer Law, where even if the manufacturers warranty has expired, the retailer/manufacturer still has to comply with Australian law and fix/replace The light in the wall remote comes on when you press the button but garage door does not open. I replaced the batteries to try and got the same thing, red LED light on wall remote comes on when button is pressed, but garage door does nothing. The door was installed by Steel-line. chippy, I'm not sure what the drive unit is, and it is not mentioned in the manual I found online. However I have no problem opening the garage door with my portable remote control units. It's the wall remote that has the issue. Re: Steel-Line (WA) Wall Remote Stopped Working 7Apr 01, 2021 11:14 pm Pulse I agree is should still work, you’d have a good argument under ACL as it is a wall switch but they are often battery powered, you could use the manual to re-pair the remote Thanks Pulse, will give it a go. Re: Steel-Line (WA) Wall Remote Stopped Working 8Apr 02, 2021 9:12 am If it's not a battery issue and it's genuinely U/S after such a relatively short time you'd think that a reasonable company would simply cough up a replacement. It retails for $50 so actual cost to them is probably of the order of $10. The re-pairing is a good idea, if the battery has been changed that's the most likely explanation. There's not too much "smart" about the wall switches. Hi I am wanting some opinions about the build of a steel shed I am going to get one about 4.5 x 2.5 m steel shed and the height will be about 2.3-2.4m high The one I am… 0 14434 I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 7516 Okay sorry silly me, my wife has solves the mystery for me. It’s because the labels on the ports are all wrongly positioned by the builder hence it confuses me. 2 1373 |
