Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 16, 2021 2:40 pm Hi there, We are Building with H&L Vitoria / Escape Homes, and we have Titled Land, Paid our 5% and have unconditional mortgage approval etc. But they have told me they haven't applied for our Building Permit yet, We have engineering / energy report / everything we need, but I feel they are delaying applying so that we will be a later site start. (we were originally told February, then March, now April) Is this something I can urge them to do as there should be nothing stopping them from applying? I'm frustrated as I know receiving the permit can take weeks. Re: Builder hasn't applied for Permit 3Feb 19, 2021 10:41 am Yeah i think they've got a busy couple of months ahead Re: Builder hasn't applied for Permit 4Feb 19, 2021 10:41 am ![]() Hi there What is there reasoning why they haven't applied for the permit? Is it because they got too many builds on the go? Sorry didn't tag you Re: Builder hasn't applied for Permit 5Feb 19, 2021 10:48 am ![]() ![]() Hi there What is there reasoning why they haven't applied for the permit? I know one building company I spoke to while doing my search to find a builder said they were booked up and didn't even have an opening until September. They may both have the license capacity in Qld its governed by your qbcc and allowable turnover. In Nsw you need to obtain the home warranty insurance however it’s quite different. In Nsw they only supply you with a number of open jobs and a total value. Therefore you could have an allowable turnover of 5m with 30 open jobs but if have 10 open jobs that total 5m then you can not commence the new build until it’s under the value of the new job or the other way is one is complete so your not over your open job value. bit worried with HIA building contract can a builder ask for profit of 25%. As I told him i cannot afford another 40k for the site works as he did not mentioned this to me… 4 1848 You are putting the cart in front of the horse , try it the other way Own the horse and hitch any cart..single or double ..get it BTW, the builders not doing you any… 4 1243 ![]() |
