Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Feb 02, 2021 1:57 pm Hi there, My narrow block in WA is wider at the rear (8.8m) than the front (6.2m). This might be a silly question, but does my new two-storey build have to be square or can it be built so that it gradually becomes wider as it goes back? If so, would this be much more expensive than a traditional rectangular design? I'd like to have zero boundary walls on both sides if I can. Thanks in advance for your responses. Re: Narrow Block Design 2Feb 02, 2021 8:53 pm No you can follow the boundary that isn't a problem at all, very doubtful you can have boundary to boundary though unless the is a DAP (detailed area plan) in place, is it a new sub-division? Re: Narrow Block Design 3Feb 03, 2021 11:56 am Thanks Doozer1905 for your reply. It is a green title block being subdivided into 4 lots. 3 x lots @180sqm and 1 x lot @225sqm. All between 5.5-6.2 metre wide frontage. I'm waiting to hear from the council if it is R40 or higher. Re: Narrow Block Design 4Feb 03, 2021 8:07 pm I'm nearly positive you won't be able to go parapet to parapet unfortunately Re: Narrow Block Design 5Feb 03, 2021 8:27 pm Hey AdaminPerth Sounds like a great block in a sort after area Consider 2S with a Roof garden terrace... That should take care of your open area requirements Cheers Chris Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Narrow Block Design 6Feb 04, 2021 12:26 am Doozer1905 I'm nearly positive you won't be able to go parapet to parapet unfortunately No worries - thanks very much for the feedback. Cheers Adam Re: Narrow Block Design 8Feb 04, 2021 9:13 am Also if your budget can stretch consider putting in a basement there are quiet a few unassuming 4 level homes on small blocks. Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs dimensions on your original plan are inconsistent and with accurate dimensions (including site plan, upstairs and down) i could make a proper scale drawing with furniture… 3 7660 Thanks again for this information. If you do hear anything different, would be great to know 4 8394 So still no slab and apparently the concreter cancelled. Here come the delays... apparently things haven't recovered quite as much as I thought. I've been told maybe next… 8 31909 |
