Get your vanity custom made if you had your heart set on a 2400mm, and I can imagine it will be a special colour. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 42Feb 12, 2009 2:27 pm Well we were given provisional DA approval the week of Christmas however due to the size of the home the main concern was the overflow from the tank. So as part of the conditions for CC we had to either install retention tanks or alternatively ask the local water authority if we could redirect our overflow directly into the drain which runs alongside one of our property sides.
Of course nothing is ever easy and we were deemed as being unsuitable for the retention tanks (which would have been able to be constructed the same time as the home and therefore no holdup) so had to go with the Minor Works Contract. Of course being Christmas everyone is closed down until the end of January So we wait until the specified plumber (only so many in the area are "allowed" to complete the work) comes back whilst the engineer completes the logistics of the works. They were lodged into the water board two weeks ago and last Friday we got word that the surveyor would be there Mon to mark out and the plumber would be onsite Wed to complete the works. Bad news here is that poor DH has to go and slash the paddock as the weeds are waist high!! And of all days for it to be done it was Sunday in that 30-something degree heat. But he and my darling FIL got it all done in 4hrs (was a push slasher) which was brilliant. Home was pegged out roughly - I haven't been over but DH got a little shock when he saw how large it was . Then yesterday morning he met the plumber onsite at 7am. Even with the constant drizzle and little downpours they managed to have all the minor works completed within the day. Big thumbs up to the wonderful plumbers Now we are waiting on the water board to approve the works so the builder can get the CC issued - luckily we don't have to wait for council as they use a private certifier. New tile selection for bedroom 4's ensuite. Didn't think that the previous tiles were pretty or "neutral" enough. Much happier with these ones - they will have a plain white wall tile to go with them. Mosaic will be used as a strip down one wall in shower. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 45Feb 12, 2009 4:53 pm Oh and interestingly because it has taken sooooooooo long from concept drawings to now they have changed their supplier of roof tiles from Monier to Bristile and not only that they are now allowing flat profile tiles as a standard. We were quoted $1000 to upgrade to our choice so I sent them an email saying thank you we will now have the new choice and you can credit the difference back towards all the changes we have made.
So we have now chosen Bristile Classic profile in Luna Eclipse Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 47Feb 13, 2009 7:51 am I know Donuts. Our lease here is up at the end of August and the builder keeps saying 6mths to build the house so we are cutting it extremely fine.
We just keep praying that the hot & fine weather returns quickly - we have had constant drizzle since Tuesday night. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 49Feb 13, 2009 8:02 am Thanks Haywgl - couldn't make up my mind. Really hard when it is for a room that a new baby will eventually go into - and since we aren't pregnant yet and when we are we will not find out what it is then we needed something to suit either sex. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 50Feb 13, 2009 8:09 am Ahh yes I know your concern. I found out the sex with both of my 2 so didn't have that problem but I know of alot of friends that painted their rooms and chose clothes in gender neutral yellow or green My karma ran over your dogma Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 51Feb 13, 2009 8:15 am Yep we did with the first two but since we have one of each next time we thought it would be exciting to have a surprise (however DH will probably burst a poople-valve not knowing!!) Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 52Feb 13, 2009 8:19 am We are the same - I'm going to REALLY try to be good and not find out for the next one (we have one of each too ) but I know I will probably cave
Ok sorry for going off topic, let's get back to your beautiful home! My karma ran over your dogma Our Family Home - CC Pending 53Feb 13, 2009 12:26 pm Just heard from the builder's Hunter Water has signed off on our minor works contract. She is now waiting for the facsimile and then will walk it down to the Private Certifier. Hopefully CC will be issued next week and site cut will be the following week.
Oh my goodness we just had our two year anniversary on Sunday of owning the block - it seems to have been such a long process to get this far. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 54Feb 13, 2009 12:53 pm YAY KYTON great news .... that is a huge block, am gonna have to have a look when you start I love your new tiles too, they are a gorgeous colour will suit boy baby or girl baby....very nice. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 55Feb 13, 2009 1:02 pm Hey SuH - thanks for the compliments on the tiles. I am pretty chuffed with them.
About the block - the funny thing is it is quite well hidden from the street - unless you are really looking you would never see it. In fact the majority of people actually argue that there is no such land parcel left in the suburb - one person even went into google earth to prove it (but unfortunately for him he was proven wrong ) Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 56Sep 13, 2009 1:31 pm Hello Kyton (from a fellow Novocastrian) I've read about your house but can't see any pictures (edited out?)... and no recent posts... Is everything still on track? From the comments here it sounds like it's going to be a beautiful house... lots of colour. We've toyed with the idea of tweaking the plan we love to make it even more perfect... and then go with a smaller local builder. It's our first build though, so we are a bit freaked out by the whole thought pattern. We aren't quite ready to go yet so we have a bit more time to mull the whole thing over in our minds... Would love to see what stage you are up to now. Re: Our Family Home - CC Imminent. 58Oct 29, 2009 8:32 pm So sorry guys for the late response. DH is very private so decided not to continue with this thread. We have had an interesting journey to say the least. Our home is all but finished - should be moving in over the next two weeks. Our builder unfortunately experienced a problem with their cash flow so we cancelled their contract mid-Oct. We have taken over finishing off - we were very lucky that at least the house was 95% complete so it was only connection of services and installing all minor components to be done. Our pool builder was also given notice but has since come to the party and is back on track. Once completed I will consider posting photos for a short period of time.
