Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 27, 2021 8:00 pm In our engineering, they have put an "ISOLATION JOINT IN SLAB" at the back. Highlighted in the picture below. Not sure why they've added it there. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Here is the detail of this isolation joint. They have used "Deck Roof Sheeting". The material similar to used in colorbond roof. I am really worried as this seems very unusual in a new slab and I think it should not be like this. I don't think it's normal. Isn't it? Did our builder do something wrong here? Is it a problem or normal? can this be fixed? What should I do? Please guide. Will really appreciate your expert opinion. If youre still uneasy about it, just send an email to the engineer with photos attached and get them to OK it. Would I have designed it with an iso-joint there? Probably not, but I guess conditions are different in VIC than here is Sydney, NSW. Goodluck, dont be worried. Thanks, yes the crack is pretty straight and exactly at the same spot where they put the isolation joint.
