Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jan 19, 2021 5:26 pm I'm currently doing the building permit via my local architect. My understanding is after I have it approved, I'll be looking for builders' quotes to progress with the construction. My question is, can I build my house in stages? Would builders sign quotes in split stages e.g. base stage, frame, lockup, fixing? Do I have to be an owner builder to construct my house this way? It's my first project. Thanks in advance for your helpful insights. Re: Building house in stages? 2Dec 04, 2021 7:35 pm It would be difficult for builders to agree to build in stages with big breaks with volume builders who run to their own schedule. If u want to build with 2-4 months break from stage to stage ,then owner builder will suit u has I built over 2 years this way with 10% of quotes as a project management fee, which I found ending up saving me as the project manager always killed my quotes with his trade quotes way more guaranteed to be quality work ,your best to keep educating yourself as u are doing Re: Building house in stages? 3Dec 06, 2021 12:24 pm tranlan257 I'm currently doing the building permit via my local architect.
