Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Instant Gas HWS - distance from kitchen 7Jan 14, 2021 2:25 pm supersleuth Novalon Hi all, First time poster here. My partner and I are building up in Newcastle with Montgomery. So far, it has been a dream build. Workmanship has been outstanding, and our SS has been great. We are about to have our first walk through after the services were roughed in. From the edge of our site we can see into our main bedroom which is located at the front of the house. We can see near our ensuite that the water lines have been roughed in and are ready for a HWS to be installed on the outside of the building (in other words, they have drilled through the bricks and the connection points are sticking out of the wall outside). Thing is, this is not the location of the HWS according to our plan. Its supposed to be another 5m down the side of the house near the main bathroom. Firstly, we aren't too fussed it being there depending on these things - 1. Noise of the system when turning on hot water. 2. How long hot water takes to get to the kitchen on the opposite side of the house. Where the location is now is probably over 5m further away from the kitchen than where its supposed to be on the plan. Can anyone provide any info on what its like having a instant gas hot water system in regards to location (distance from kitchen or other main areas where hot water is needed) and how noisy they are? We don't know what brand they are installing yet I'm afraid. Any help is appreciated Ours has to run from other side of house and in slab to island sink. Takes about 30 seconds and is quite annoying. If building again i'd move it or possible have second heater. Maybe even small electric heater in kitchen cupboard. Thank you! I will look into that. Found the answer.
