So far this is what we have chosen Lightest tile on left to go up the walls. Tile on bottom right will be on the floor and up the side of the bath. Vinyl plank timber look will be throughout whole house. http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o507/alexia_armour/image_zpsn9appsic.jpeg Timber look vinyl again in Natural pearl against the MEDIA ROOM carpet. Media room will have 2 cavity sliders, and we will be putting in recliners for comfort http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o507/alexia_armour/image_zpshj4628do.jpeg These are the feature tiles we are thinking for a wall in the shower & recess. http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o507/alexia_armour/image_zpspj7wfmtj.jpeg Cheers, Tegan (& Josh) Marcoola 30 with CORAL HOMES 2016 SANDSTONE LAKES, NINGI Queensland Our Build Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82452 Re: CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 4Mar 16, 2016 8:28 pm Hi Tegan, I love the Marcoola design and your choices are great. We are looking at building a Noosa 26 and love the vinyl planks. We want to get them but are debating whether to get coral to do it through the elegance promotion or get the designer promotion and do the floors ourselves. Can I ask what promotion you went with? So many decisions to make Good luck with your other choices! Re: CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 5Mar 17, 2016 12:01 am NicMac03 Hi Tegan, I love the Marcoola design and your choices are great. We are looking at building a Noosa 26 and love the vinyl planks. We want to get them but are debating whether to get coral to do it through the elegance promotion or get the designer promotion and do the floors ourselves. Can I ask what promotion you went with? So many decisions to make Good luck with your other choices! Hi Nicmac, We love the Marcoola and decided the 30 was perfectly size wise and the way it would sit on our block. Sun will rise from the back, and sets out the front of the house. We have added some extra insulation, and will be shading that front accordingly. We also had looked at the daydream and the noosa 29 before deciding the marcoola 30 would be perfect once tweaked. Vinyl plank is the way to go, I dont like tiled main floors, the wet areas are an exception Also, being asthmatic and allergic to many things, we decided the plank is easier to keep clean over carpets, so also being laid in bedrooms. We went with the "DESIGNER STYLE" promotion, as we loved the upgraded taps, stone benchtops, big front door, frameless mirrors, wall hung vanitys etc. Most of our family are tradesmen, so we are getting a few things supplied and installed at great prices! We are also supplying all our own lights (LED), and will install fans and ducted aircon outside of CORAL also. We are going to render the whole outside, and are getting the driveway, porch, back patio, under clothesline, dog yard and side access cemented by a local concreting mob at a good price We also upgraded and got the higher 25 ceilings, and the colourbond roof & steel frame! We also added cavity sliders into the media, and we took out a window so it will be nice & dark (how a media room should be!) We added and changed quite a few small things, included a water tank plumbed to the toilets and the washing machine, broom cupboard, we made the 2nd toilet a "powder room" by making the linen closet half the size and adding a sink, vanity & mirror into the cupboard. We also went with double hung windows along the front, and added a bigger door to the garage for side access. We wanted to add a door to the study instead of it being an open walkway, in case we decided to make it a future "nursery", but was a bit to much messing around so we have just left it & will work on that later. All signed off, paid deposit and waiting for it to go through council & private certifier now (they say 6 weeks). Can't wait to see the slab down! We literally are renting like a 100 metre walk from our block, so we drive past every single day & see it so it will be easy for me to visit and keep an eye on whats happening! So excited! http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o507/alexia_armour/thumb_2337_360x0_0_0_auto_zpsbv2yptnn.jpg Cheers, Tegan (& Josh) Marcoola 30 with CORAL HOMES 2016 SANDSTONE LAKES, NINGI Queensland Our Build Thread: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=82452 Re: CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 6Mar 17, 2016 8:53 pm I loved corals homes and now regretting not going with them. We are building with oracle instead. Can i ask why u chose vinyl for the floors. Over bamboo or laminate Re: CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 7Mar 17, 2016 9:52 pm That all sounds great Tegan, looking forward to seeing how your build goes. Noelle, we will be getting vinyl planks but originally were going to get laminate. We were surprised how realistic the vinyl looks and it's put down in planks like laminate and bamboo. It's also quieter, hard wearing and doesn't have the problem of swelling when wet like laminate can. These are the reasons that won me over. Re: CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 8Mar 17, 2016 10:33 pm Noelle1986 I loved corals homes and now regretting not going with them. We are building with oracle instead. Can i ask why u chose vinyl for the floors. Over bamboo or laminate Laminate, real timber & bamboo don't do so well with getting wet. I think bamboo would look luxurious, but after working in a flooring store, think I learnt that the vinyl floors have a lot more "pros" than the rest and may outlast the others. Vinyl looks very real, is hardy for high traffic areas, scratches, burns, water etc. Can also get the "acoustic" type, and are pretty easy to lay. They come in planks just like timber would, just lovee the timber look. We had laminate clip together boards (floating floor) at one of our old houses and had to replace rooms twice due to water damage, those rooms ended up being tiled! CORAL have so many great inclusions, and we like the finish of their work and the look they go for. The houses never look basic, they always feel homely. The cheap upgrades sucked us in, eg; designer style, steel frame, colourbond roof, high ceilings. Reason i asked is i chose laminate over vinyl.. the flooring place didnt mention possible water damage... the only wet area would be the kitchen its obviously tiled in bathrooms. ..what advice can u give seeings we've already locked it in Re: CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 10Mar 19, 2016 7:43 am NicMac03 That all sounds great Tegan, looking forward to seeing how your build goes. I did see the vinyl planks in the show room and was amazed at how real they look. If that's the one you want, just check out how long it will still be available. Wonder what the next promotion will include? Re: CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 15Mar 22, 2016 8:24 pm I'm still trying to work out how to start one I'm only on my phone kids killed my laptop lol! We signed our life away on Monday lol Do you know how to start a thread on the app??? Might have to login on safari. CORAL homes 1st build, Marcoola 30 QLD 17Mar 28, 2016 8:08 pm This is our amended plan (still not right) front portico will come forward 900 further. When they flipped it, I think it didn't line up properly. So once we got our plans back they had pushed the entry door in line with the garage which I didn't like.. But such a pain and more $ to change it to be able to keep the 300sq set door in study. So we extended the portico instead. http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o507/alexia_armour/house%20plans%20amended%20march%202016_zpsb8ssblam.jpg Elevations ; Sun rises out the back, and sets out the front. http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o507/alexia_armour/House%20elevations%20amended_zps1v4euuls.jpg This is how she sits on the block: Clothesline on far right, side access on the left.
