Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 08, 2008 10:08 am Hey guys,
Quick question....during our weekly updates, our CSC (who has been fantastic) asked me to send photos of how the house is progressing... Anyway, my question is, should I give her my blog addie? cos this seems to be the easier option, as I seem to be addicted to bloging and am updating it pretty regularily......but I'm not sure if this is a good idea? Has anyone else who has a blog given it to their buildeR? or is this a no no? I don't have anything incriminating (i think!) on it...but I thought I would ask just in case I shouldn't? Ta! Re: Giving out blogs.. 2Oct 08, 2008 10:33 am I sent an email to my Admin and told her of my Blog. She appreciated my honesty, and was looking forward to reading a clients perspective! I also told her that although H3nley as a company have been named, I would not be naming any individual person, showing our plans with dimensions as they are copyright, and only posting factual information and not 'assuming' things.
I think it's a great way for them to see the progress and photos if there are any 'issues'. As long as what goes into your blog is the truth and not in any way slanderous or defamatory then you should have nothing to worry about. I know it can be a good way to 'vent', and I have vented on my blog on occassion, but just make sure it is all truthful information. Also be aware that what is put on your blog is (obviously) on the internet, which means ANYONE, ANYWHERE can access that information. My advice is not to post photos with lot numbers, street names, phone numbers and number plates....just in case!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! They certainly didn't (and still don't) appreciate my blog. Its a judgement call I think. Re: Giving out blogs.. 4Oct 08, 2008 12:36 pm Can i ask why you send photo update to your CSC? i thought she should be the one providing update information to you, rather than the other way.
Or am i mis-unstood? Oh Matt, I do suppose its a judgement call... claego, she was just saying that as the admin side of it all, she doesn't get to see how the house is actually going up (the actual look of the house), so she kindly asked for photos...I think it was a nice gesture, cos she does seem really excited about the house being built, which gets me extra excited too! hehe Thanks guys for the opinions! Re: Giving out blogs.. 6Oct 08, 2008 1:25 pm We gave our CSC our thread link and she loves it! We appreciate that she reads it and when we say stuff on there she does get back to us with answers. I wouldnt be rude on it and if I had a real beef (*touch wood*) they'd know about it well before it ever made my blog so for my mind its just another way to communicate, and from what I hear you need all channels open.
I guess so long as there is nothing on there that is going to supprise them theres no harm. I say do it and be open with your CSC, its certianly got us a long way. Apparently, they LOVE our blog. Our blog makes them look very good....so I think they love us. I haven't discussed any of the negative stuff on the blog at all. They know I COULD if I wanted to, but I address every issue with them first, and so far haven't had to post anything negative.
Smart builders know that blogs are not going away, and know that they're great for "word of mouth" sales. Our builder is doing a great job of keeping us informed and updated so that when people google "urbanedge homes" and come across our blog, it reflects well on them. My most recent attempt at contact has yet again been ignored.....I can't understand why some companies can treat their clients with total disdain, and others, like Newbies builder, seem to enjoy contact with their clients.
It's a pity that the Housing Industry Association doesn't give out awards for Customer Service as well....might stir some of them into action and pay attention to the needs of their customers. Built a Clarendon 'Balmain' 2008 Re: Giving out blogs.. 11Oct 08, 2008 5:11 pm Hey Newbies,
Seeing as we are building with same company and same office I wouldn't be surprised if your CSC already knows about your blog!!! Our CSC reads our blog everyday and emailed me the other day asking for more photos!!!!! She will be pleased tomorrow as I'm about to load up some tonight CSC has also asked if she could come out and see the house in person one day when her work load is a bit lighter (with her Boss' permission) She's worked her butt off on our file so I think it's okay that she gets to see the build. Send her the link, you have only spoken positively about your build and I think she'll love your post about loving her Happy at Home Re: Giving out blogs.. 12Oct 08, 2008 5:15 pm Our builder's management found us/and our build through this forum. They knew about the link to the blog from my signature. I must say that our CSA and her team in the office found it great to be able to follow the progress of the build as they would otherwise not get to see the house usually. Even our S/S would regularly check the blog when at home with his kids. His kids enjoyed seeing their dad on the internet in the pics! lol
Things can/might go wrong in the build, whether you decide to put it on the blog or not is up to you. I think if anything comes up in regards to the content of the blog, it will always be something that can be negotiated or discussed rationally. I dont see it as a bad thing? We are building with the same company as you. I called my CSC on Monday to discuss something and there was information that she already knew, while i was wondering how she knows all that, she mentioned that she read it in my blog and saw the pictures. This was my reaction, as there are few little things on my blog that talk about her and not very positive. However all of that is tru and i dont regret. i think its good that actually made an effort to read your blog and that may help them to prepare for some of the questions that we ask them However i was stunned for a moment when she said that she read my blog. Also, i was a little embarrased about the whole situation. But all good now, atleast i know that they are reading it. Hey homeishome, would be my reaction too if my csc told me she read my blog (without me giving it to her) hehe.. Thanks for the reply I've sent the addie to my csc, so i'll wait for the feedback from her i guess hehe Re: Giving out blogs.. 20Oct 12, 2008 11:22 pm Newbies...OMG!! Can't believe you did that!! Can't believe that your CSC asked for it!! Isn't it meant to work in reverse with your builder...they load photos for you to look at on the 24/7 page/gallery thing?? Don't you feel that you will really have to watch what you put in your blog now for fear of p*ssing off your csc, even though you love her now? Hope it turns out ok 4 u! OMG - I'm in shock!
