The one main advantage of corner blocks on the southern side of the road is that they have great access to northern light. As they will not be overshadowed by northern neighbours.
It's always a great idea to orientate the home so that living areas (& a large proportion of glazing) to face north. They'll be light, warm in winter & shaded by eaves in summer. Designing to these principles is called "passive solar design".
Also, with this block shape, a rectangular home can be build, with the longer walls facing north & south, the shorter walls facing west & east. This is perfect for passive solar design, so increases comfort & energy efficiency.
But facing living areas to the north on these southern corner blocks means they will face the street. So lack of privacy can be an issue.
