Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 08, 2022 1:50 pm Hi Everyone, My plumber sent me this picture of a slab for a duplex in Sydney that he was hired to do the plumbing for. Wondering if anyone has ever seen anything worse? Re: Bad Concreting 2Mar 08, 2022 2:31 pm Wow! Just wow. It looks like they had a blowout on the formwork and have had to try and cut a recess after the pour. Where do you start. I like the LVL just sitting in the concrete. Maybe it's just a new form of reinforcement that us amateurs aren't aware of yet. The back story is I was approached by a concretor a few weeks ago looking for work. Got him to quote and he had a very slick sales spiel. He charges more because his quality is so much better than everyone else. Completely randomly, turns out that this was the guy. What he has been doing is subcontracting all his work out and obviously in this case some donkeys got the job. I also love how the carpenter has tried to do his set out! On the other side of the slab it was so bad they have had to saw cut huge sections to straighten it up. Re: Bad Concreting 5Mar 08, 2022 3:24 pm I can't even work out what's going on. It looks like they've made a shocking job even worse with the quick cut saw. Nothing a D9 could fix. If the quality of his work is so good one would have hoped that he immediately sacked his subbie and organised for the slab to be demolished and everything started from scratch Re: Bad Concreting 9Mar 10, 2022 7:06 am Althom Ashington Homes chippy Wow! Options so far are cutting a 1 meter strip off the perimeter and drilling dowels in at 600 centres and re-pouring the entire perimeter. Not being an engineer I have no idea if that will work. Problem is the stair void looks similar, they delivered the frames & trusses too early and stacked them in a pile of mud with the trusses on top. I have a video that shows the trusses at the bottom crushed, literally. I dont think any of these people have a clue what they are doing.
