I was also offered to get my own brickies. However I have no idea about this. I feel I'm just stuck I can relate. I still have no idea about it all. If you haven't been waiting long for bricks at this stage and still haven't been given a place in the queue, I would recommend talking to everyone you know to see if anyone knows a decent, reliable bricklayer. We even did Gumtree, Facebook posts and Hi Pages. The bricklayer can't already be on BGC's books. If you have the means, throw in any bonus that you can get together. I worked overtime for weeks to get a bonus together (we didn't get the main grants, so didn't have any surplus cash). Contact BGC and ask for the subcontractor pack for owner nominated trades and also ask how much per brick at the moment. If you find a brick layer that is willing to sub-contract to BGC, then they will get the price that BGC are paying. Then you will more than likely need to offer a bonus in addition to that to get a decent brick layer. The alternative is an open ended wait. Good luck either way you go - wish you all the best. faultless is hard to find, talk to your builder because it has real potential to hold up the schedule so needs to someone they work well with.
