Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Dec 01, 2020 12:23 am Hi all,
Has anyone built an atrium before, if so, how much did it cost you ? We are designing our house and our architect has suggested putting an atrium over our foyer and upstairs room (atrium will be approx 2.5 x 2.5m. 2.5 x 3m of adjacent roof will also be raised without impacting room hieght). There will be windows on the front of the atrium only and render on the sides. Maybe a long shot, but does anyone have a clue how much we can expect to pay ? Cheers, Manny Re: Has anyone built an Atrium? Potential cost? 2Dec 01, 2020 10:48 am Yep, it is a long shot try putting up plans, images, 3D X-section and more information BTW, The better the information, the better the reply and it also helps others The biggest expense is the scaffolding, but most builders' have there own and don't have to rent. I have attached relevant snippets of our concept plans. We do not have a structural engineering report just yet (as plans are still in draft phase). However our architect plans to raise the roof by using the support of 3 walls (not sure if a steel beam will be required) as a result. On complex design/details its best to have it Modelled in a 3D Bim programme That way everything lines up correctly when viewed from different positions . Next stage, The engineering beams, supports, etc also be modelled within the same Bim programme Final stage, Data, quantities and costs Client is arranging fitout themselves OT, You cant bake a cake from photos alone.. you need a recipe/instructions Automation & Engineering simulations takes it to the next level Cake Backing Analysis with Simulations Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks again for sharing. Absolutely agree. We only have hand drawn plans at this stage as we are at early stages. How much would you say something like atrium in the picture that you have shown would cost? Just want to gauge if an atrium will be within our budget as I’ve read it can cost in excess of $30k ! Re: Has anyone built an Atrium? Potential cost? 6Dec 02, 2020 10:37 am Sorry I can't see $30K Start with your budget and then reverse engineer the basic costs What's left over is for features, fixtures and finishes hth Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Hi All, we are starting to think of building with Masterpiece Builders in Victoria, has anyone had any feedback or experience with them 0 7162 Hi guys, I’m currently looking at a house i want to buy but the building inspection has picked up a number of issues with the brick piers under the house.
