Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 28, 2020 9:10 pm We have just moved in to our new home but we've encountered this issue after cleaning our floor tiles several times. The tiling in our study area has lost its shine. It's a rectfied gloss tiles but it looks like the gloss on top is completely gone. Can a bleach damage the gloss of a tile? When we had our PCI, our SS said that the cleaners put some bleach to lighten the grout and clean them. We did many times already but still no luck. It looks like the gloss lift off the tiles. Re: Newly laid gloss tiles that lost its shine 4Nov 29, 2020 4:37 pm If you run your finger nail over the tile both glossy parts and dull parts can you feel a change in the texture from smooth to slightly roughly? It's possible that the cleaners have used an acid that has etched the glazing. You can definitely see the circular mop pattern that makes me think someone has split something or tried mopping up with something that has etched the glaze. Just try lightly working a small area with a creme cleanser. If it doesn't buff it off then I'd say the glazing is etched and the only rectification is too replace the damaged tiles. It actually feels like a matt tile. Oh no, there are about 20 tiles. We have just moved in but I will contact our builder and hopefully they will be able to replace. When we had our PCI our SS said that those marks are just residue from the grout which we can just clean with warm water. The cleaners should not be using harsh chemicals. Re: Newly laid gloss tiles that lost its shine 6Nov 30, 2020 8:37 am Try a bit of white vinegar diluted with water. That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17775 The unit normally clips into a metal plate screwed to the wall, either plate is not flush, or unit not hooked in and could be hanging from the pipes partly, either might… 2 15773 You should pressure clean your roof first and make sure the paint you buy also is anti mould. 4 17656 |
