Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 18, 2020 7:07 pm hi all Would like to get some advice. We at the early stages of building our first home (duplex) in the ACT. We are quite happy with the Rawson Medina duplex design (https://www.rawsonhomes.com.au/home-designs/medina) however with a slight change to make it a double garage. Now i understand that the sides needs to have 3 metres of clearance, however what if we were to convert each double garage to a carport instead? (i.e. it will look similar to a garage from the front of the house, however the back wall of the garage would not be enclosed). Is it possible to get around the 3m clearance rule if we did this? Keen for any advice from those in the know or have done something similar. Hi Almay - I am also going through the design stage with BLD. Would love to know how you're going, any issues so far? I, too, find them a bit slow. 6 2297 ![]() Hi, We are in early stage of planning to build our new home for the first time.
