Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 18, 2020 11:09 pm We upgraded our insulation to R2.5 but when we visit the site, we saw Bradford R2.0 packaging on the bin. We can't see our insulation now as the plaster has been installed. We ask our builder about this and replied saying it's not their rubbish but from the other builder in the neighboring site. It's a good excuse but my question is, is it possible to falsify insulation certificate? Is it possible that they just missed our upgrade and later on issue a certificate saying R2.5 even if only R2.0 was actually installed? After our builder talked us out of a private inspector for our pre-plaster and after seeing the wrong packaging, we kinda have doubts now. We regret not insisting on getting pre-plaster inspected. Ask yourself why they talked you out of getting that inspection done and don't let them talk you out of any future inspections. Yeah, I think it's critical to get independent inspections done at important stages of the build. I wouldn't be relying on the builder's integrity for the biggest purchase you'll probably make in your lifetime. I honestly hope your builder has some the right thing, & best of luck with this & the remainder of the build.
