Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 06, 2020 8:16 pm Does anyone know if it is possible to have no flooding overlay on a property but still be in a flood prone area where you need council / Melbourne Water approval? Our property has no relevant overlay on the planning scheme, but council have responded to a property information request noting that the property is flood prone and advised how to apply for a flood level. Thanks Re: Flood prone but no overlay? 2Jan 20, 2021 4:35 pm Hi, How did you go with this issue? I have the same issue where my block has no flood overlay but the council (boroondara) have advised i need to apply for flood level consent. Were you able to resolve? Re: Flood prone but no overlay? 3Mar 24, 2021 9:49 pm Turned out to be the council being a pain - made a big show of us needing to send in plans so they could approve them and send to Melb Water for sign off. Melbourne Water basically came back with the response “it’s not designated flood prone so we don’t care”. Melbourne Water basically came back with the response “it’s not designated flood prone so we don’t care”. Which council was this? We had a similar issue where MW didn’t care but council still did. Yes it had a house on it. But Melbourne water only wanted something the original size of the existing house. We managed to fit a 45sq house on. 10 33655 Give Jonathan a call. Tell him you know me.
