Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Nov 05, 2020 8:10 pm Hello everyone I am new at this platform and I am having an issue with my builder. my builder has completed the construction of my new house but I found an issue in the kitchen. I chose a range hood from The Good Guys and The good guys supplied it directly to my builder. I chose porcelain tiles for splashback. the problem is "my builder installed 1st layer of complete full tiles underneath the rangehood and 2nd layer of half tiles at the top of the first layer (underneath rangehood) still he left a little bit GAP in between 2nd layer of splashback tiles and rangehood. I requested him to remove the 2nd layer of half tiles and install the maximum size of tiles that can fill the gap in between tiles and rangehood but he said he can only install the 3rd layer of half tiles to fill the gap instead of removing the 2nd layer. he said if we want to remove the 2nd layer of half tiles then it will cost us money of removal, plaster, paint, etc. so my question is " Is he obliged to remove the 2nd layer of tiles and install the accurate size of tiles underneath rangehood or will I have to bear the cost because I chose rangehood from an outside supplier. my builder did not inform me at an earlier stage about this issue and I Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ found it in inspection photos that were sent by an inspector. please advise me on the right thing to do. Re: gap left in between splashback tiles and rangehood 2Nov 05, 2020 8:12 pm It looks like it is built to a standard height, I’d check you’re drawings, that will have the detail. I think it will be on you to fix though, because it’s owner supplied. Could any of these be asbestos? Best to leave as it is or clean up? Thank you for your thoughts 0 8070 |
