Is the entirety of the fence encroaching in our land? My understanding was that it would be the width of the fence would be split across both properties - my neighbours and mine. I also assumed the fencing would be more flush against the garage wall of the neighbour, so that the yellow arrow gap would not exist. Our garage is not being built against the neighbour's garage, it is on the other side like this: The red 'circled' portion is what I am showing in the picture above. I will admit, I live in Melbourne and have not had the chance to visit the property yet. I also don't know much about fencing/building etc. So I am trying to educate myself with my first post here....so please be nice In summary - just trying to understand if the fencing has been erected correctly. When you build to boundary, the wall is usually around 15-20cm inside the boundary to allow for the guttering to remain within the property. When the they build a zero boundry lot there is always around 180mm or 200mm gap. The little post (Yellow Arrow) should come out this much as that is to the actual boundry!
