Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 13, 2020 8:06 pm Hi, I've had a bit of a disastrous build to date but am now a few days away from practical completion. The sinks/bath etc have just been fitted and on visiting the house this evening, I've found the shower tray and bathroom sink full of water and the central floor waste holding water to the brim. The other basins in the house are empty but are further from the wastewater system than this room (and possibly not tested - I didnt want to test them myself either). When the plumber initially laid the pipework, there was apparently a mix up with the plans and many pipes were not in the position they should have been. The new plumber had moved/capped additional pipework including an IO beside the toilet (half under the wall). Im yet to speak with the builder but am wondering whether anyone has had a similar experience and how it was rectified (Im a little scared to ask at this stage)! Thanks. Re: Drainage issue in bathroom 2Oct 14, 2020 8:53 am When we built our previous home we had an issue with the sewer being blocked. It was a split level home with the laundry on the middle level. The first day a load of washing was put on and there was water coming up through the floor waste of the downstairs bathroom. The builder sent out a plumber and he cleared the line to the street and there were no issues after that with the sewer. There were caps for the pipes during the build but whenever we'd visit site there was always a few for the sewer and storm water I'd put back on during the earlier stages of the build slab, frame, bricks and roof. Re: Drainage issue in bathroom 3Oct 14, 2020 10:05 am Thanks for the reply, I was thinking it may be a blockage as the house sat for a few months whilst the builder sorted his licence out. I spoke to the builder today and apparently its a water pressure test they were conducting overnight. Not sure how they just block off that area and the rest of the sinks don't fill, but I guess that's why im not a plumber? Hi HomeOne, I'm in the midst of landscaping a cat run down the side of my house, and the recent rains have me wondering if I need to install some sort of drainage. I've… 0 12279 2 5842 I would find out how deep your clay base is and depending on the depth install a cut off drain which is more than a normal agi drain. Where the neighbouring walls is… 2 3147 |
