Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Oct 09, 2020 1:33 pm Hi all. This will be our first time building (KDRB) and we are almost at the stage of selecting our builder. We have agreed on a plan that absolutely works for us which only took us months of deliberation. Our only concern is the Facade. We would love a chateau style but for that house plan/option its not available. That’s our only let down. Can we do that style of facade after handover? Will we require a permit or further changes submitted to council? Who do we employ (trades) to carry out the changes? Re: Changing Facade after handover 2Oct 11, 2020 8:40 pm Is it possible or feasible to change facade after build? I don’t think so but that it only my opinion. Re: Changing Facade after handover 3Oct 11, 2020 9:09 pm Submit modification to council, get approved -> change facade (eg render or re-paint, re-glaze if needed). Nothing fancy. Obviously, if you are not changing one type of bricks to another, this is when it gets really expensive. Re: Changing Facade after handover 4Oct 15, 2020 9:34 am Thanks for your responses but the more I think of it the more bricks sounds more flexible then Hebel. I know that they both have their pros and cons but for the extra cost to do hebel, then more money for a veneer stone cladding its going to cost a lot more with so much confusion to begin with. Re: Changing Facade after handover 5Nov 11, 2020 9:27 am i am in the same situation.. love the design that Clarendon has but keen to get a French provincial influenced façade which they don't provide.. its a double story and may run into further costs by doing rendering and moulding after even if council approves.. How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at? Have you fully drawn down the loan? 5 11934 Hi All, I'm new here!
