I suggest installing a slit window, a tall and narrow window, maybe two if you can, into the ground floor family west wall with a shading device over, possible an awning you can remove during winter or deciduous plants and reducing both south facing windows as far as you are comfortable with.If you cant install an awning or plants then no biggie. Just have blinds or curtains for the summer time and offset it with AC if need be. Two slit windows, side by side in the GF and matched in the FF would help and look nice. Those south facing windows will loose a lot of heat from your main living areas on both GF and FF. I strongly suggest making them smaller. Its basically a chimney sucking out your heat.
