We got an email from the builder that we need to clean up the site before they can commence construction. Its been almost 2 years since our land was settled and it has been used as a dumping ground by the other building sites around our lot. I would really appreciate any feedback based on your experiences - My question is, is 2k a reasonable quote for a pre-build cleanup? unfortunately, I don't have a pic of the lot as I can't travel out due to COVID restrictions. I had to deal with the same thing - lot was 5 years old when we bought it and was the dumping ground for every lot around it. We tried to get it sorted prior to settlement but vendors wouldn't budge so it was our problem in the end. We paid $3k to clear it but we received quotes ranging up to $14K. I wonder if anyone's thought of a solution to this problem. I'm sure this must be the story in all the new estates/developments throughout Australia. Soil on its own shouldn't be too hard to get rid of. It's when it's mixed in with construction rubbish that it becomes expensive as the tips don't want it unless it's sorted. That was the issue we faced and the responses I got when asking for quotes were either "sorry don't want to do it" or they just came back really high (like the 14k one). Eventually found a decent guy though who was willing to sort and seperate it all.
