Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 24, 2020 12:49 am Hi All, Time for me to start a thread for my new home in Hammond Park WA. I am building with Ideal Homes and as of now I have completed and paid prestart, awaiting final plan sign off before applying for the land developer and local council's approval. I have posted my proposed design on here previously and received some criticism. Ultimately the house design works for my lifestyle so I am not interested in feedback on the layout. So this is the block: [img:1llbxh8a]https://forum.homeone.com.au/u/95941_1600870479.png[/img:1llbxh8a] Its a small 7.5m frontage 206sqm block that overlooks this cute park. Perfect for my Lil dog and me. More data points are always a good thing! But just make sure the Wifi mesh you're looking at supports multiple pucks being connected to different ethernet ports in the house. Because I thought this was the case with our Google Wifi but unfortunately not the case. Although I work in IT, it is enterprise grade stuff and I have not setup a personal home network previously so I am looking forward to the different challenge. Planning on a little wall mounted rack in the garage and setting up the rest of the kit myself. I was planning on getting in my own contractors to do the point work post handover however it was cheap through the builder and after building before plus having more cash this time I just wanted move in ready. Should be a fun little project anyway. Still waiting on plans back from the builder at this stage for sign off before progressing to Council then onto scheduling. All wait from here til slab. Re: Ideal Homes WA - Hammond Park 5Oct 23, 2020 10:02 pm Confirmation from the builder that the application is now in their scheduling department and building application has been submitted, appeared this afternoon in the eProperty website. Building Application ETA: 6th November (latest) Slab current ETA: 13th November Slightly pessimistic that the slab will be layed by the 13th (to meet Federal Grant deadline) Re: Ideal Homes WA - Hammond Park 6Oct 28, 2020 10:51 pm Building approval received today - 2 day turn around Now to have that slab down before the 17th! Inbetween pre-start and earthworks I have had to select new kitchen cabinets as the colour I had selected is not available. Spent some time back at Crosby Tiles to select the new colour to match tile selections. Here is what I have picked: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Ideal Homes WA - Hammond Park 9Nov 24, 2020 1:58 am AnjC Love the colour selection - well done! I think the house plan is good too - it really does just have to suit you. Thank you AnjC! - I surprisingly missed out (second time Ive built, second time Ive missed out) on the pre-start pack, and selected everything by researching their previous builds etc. It mostly worked out! Not every plan will suit everyone, and I certainly didn't expect to as there are things that I value differently to others. I did entertain the idea of having the living spaces at the front of the house, but carrying groceries from the garage to the front didn't appeal to me, and I really don't entertain that often. I do work a lot, so most of my time will be in my bedroom or the second bedroom (which I will be using as a media/music room) anyway. I also do not have children, nor do I want any (now that I am almost 40 that isnt going to change) so I am happy this house is for me. Are you currently in a build? Re: Ideal Homes WA - Hammond Park 10Nov 24, 2020 6:58 pm Oh yes... it's been a long time coming but I am just about to sign my contract (pre-expiry of building bonus hopefully as my builder has already added 16k to the price...). In Joondanna. I submitted my plan to this forum and though I found the feedback helpful it was a bit intimidating! I've made a few of the suggested changes but mainly I'm living with the style that suits my family (there are only three of us, and once built a poodle makes four...) - we've very few rooms and lots of open space. Oh good luck! Who’s your builder? I took a look at your layout - I’d it’s what works for you I say stick with it. My family back home put an extra shower in their laundry along with a toilet to pose as a spare bathroom and it works for them. Only thing I’d wish I’d done is delete the wardrobe in bedroom #2 so I can use it as another living space... however wouldn’t be good for resale.
