Hi,
I’m at the design stage of a knock down rebuild. Annoyingly the design with standard double glazing has come back with an EER of 5 stars. The only way to get it up to 6 Stars is to add expensive glazing costing approximately $18,000 more.
Annoyingly the EER calculation doesn't factor in the fact that I’ll be installing solar and having heavy drapes.
Is there anything stopping me removing some windows from the design to meet the 6 star EER rating with cheaper glass then installing more windows after certificate of occupancy?

In NSW we have BASIX which has three components - Water, Thermal Comfort and Energy. For us because we are having more than three sky windows we had to have a NATHERS assessment which is a bit more involved and looked at the size of the water tank, our solar capacity and storage, window treatments etc. We ended up with a 5.1 star rating which I am happy with.
