Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Sep 17, 2020 11:35 pm Hi guys! First time building and wanted to document our progress and ask for some feedback along the way. We purchased a block off the plan in February. It's a bit over an acre in regional vic and getting close to being registered. Thankfully the registration hasn't been delayed too bad with the pandemic, was due to be registered start of October now being told they're finishing up works in the next few weeks and registration should be towards the end of November. Pretty happy with that, gives us a bit more planning time. We have decided on the Gj Gardner Wentworth 455 and have only made a few minor modifications to it from the original like adding a door to the master ensuite, removed external doors from the front bedrooms, changed the external laundry door, and widened the kitchen island. This is our plan so far: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We've decided on the Manor Facade on the front and brick on the sides. Re: Gj Gardner Wentworth 2Sep 18, 2020 8:37 am In regional Victoria, I'd try and configure a mud room entry from the garage via the laundry. It might mean giving up some of the 3rd car space though. Re: Gj Gardner Wentworth 3Sep 18, 2020 11:30 am Great floorplan, love the facade, it will be a beautiful house when it’s finished but I think you’re going to need a cleaner because it’s huge! 😉 Two points to consider is to ensure you have soundproofing in the walls between bedrooms and living areas so noise does not carry into sleeping areas, and try and include an internal door to the bedroom hallway and sliding door (barn style?) to the entry way so you can better control heating/cooling within the house. Best of luck with your build. Re: Gj Gardner Wentworth 4Sep 18, 2020 2:23 pm That's not a manor, that's a mansion! It's going to look great when finished! Re: Gj Gardner Wentworth 5Sep 18, 2020 5:07 pm We looked at this plan, originally when we started on our acreage home journey. It’s a great plan, however i agree i think you need a mud room, drop zone area, either utilise some or all of the WIL2, you could even just have it in the hallway going up to bed 3&4, by utilising the side of the WIL. My only other concern with that plan was the position of the fridge, I’d try and have some type of fridge in the kitchen, because its not in a very handy spot. Good luck with the build Good morning all from a very excited home builder! We secured a beautiful sloping block in Hornsby Heights.
