Building With Metricon

Not sure of everyone else's experience with Metricon but mine has been very disappointing. There was almost zero onsite supervision or QA checks so the house is riddled with defects, insulation put into the roof in their pink bags but not actually fitted, over 11k spent on a staircase that is not finished, a backyard that was treated like their own tip, widening cracks in the structure and throughout the garage. over 2k spent on sliding doors that are clearly defective from the manufacturer only to be told by metricon that "thats just the way they are". The place looks ok on first instance but on closer inspection looks like it was made in China with poor finishes and substandard workmanship everywhere.

To cap it all off their customer service has been deplorable, they do their utmost not to remedy anything but minor issues, even telling me to contact technika myself to get the microwave which was purchased through metricon (which turns on by itself and is a fire hazard) replaced. For the unfinished 11k staircase they infuriatingly hide behind differing stories and 'policy'. If I had my time again I absolutely would not build with these people again and anyone thinking of doing so should think long and hard about it.

where you are building and what design ? i know Metricon is far from perfect but i joined a facebook metricon build group with 6000 members and there are a lot of happy customers, I didnt build with them I haven't decided yet still in the searching phase...

We built the Newhaven in the Gold Coast area. No doubt there are a lot of happy customers however my experience with them once the handover has taken place and they have the money in their account has been very poor to say the least.
Poor workmanship, non existent customer service, as above we had the issue with the microwave they supplied turning on by itself which is a fire hazard and all they said was you are outside of your 6 month warranty, talk to the supplier.
Every time there is a fault they come back with the line that its 'within spec' e.g. staircase coloring we chose a mahogany stain from their brochure and they provided us with an orange staircase (11k spent)

Now Sliding doors worth 2.5k have a distinct line down the middle and we were told that there is nothing they can do about it (no refund for supplying a faulty product).

I don't know of any other business that is happy to take peoples money and not provide what they paid for.

Agree with you in regards to quality and customer service, a lot of unhappy customers just like you after completion service is very poor lately with poster in the group with lots of defects and slow fixing,, I can tell now by reading the posts on Facebook that this company is too large and don’t have the best service nor they care about feedback, in Sydney they very small and hardly anyone build with them but they big in VIC and have large share of construction work on new houses.
