Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Jun 23, 2019 7:28 pm As we slowly go through all the issues with our house we seem to come across more and more problems, like a building lasagna. Looking through all the photos it appears and please tell me if I am wrong but for the brick work there should be a typical edge beam of 150mm all the way around the house. Of course not in certain areas but if the concreter didn't do an edge beam what is the brick sitting on? OT, That's how they teach 1st year engineering student how to design, analyse and build Structures BTW, The calculations are fairly accurate, then they test to destruction....Not recommended for real projects Tho Lasagna Bridge Structure Thejones88 Looking through all the photos it appears and please tell me if I am wrong but for the brick work there should be a typical edge beam of 150mm all the way around the house. Correct, Load bearing walls require edge thickening or edge beams Check your Engineering Drawings/Details...hope your photos match with what is Certified? Good times. You need to refer back to the structural engineering footings and slab design for edge beams depth. The depth on reactive clay doesn’t necessarily depend only on bearing… 1 9778 Hi all. I have a drop edge beam down the left side of my house. Across the front the drop edge beam is approx 1m on the left and fade to normal ground level on the right… 0 7035 Alex I don't think these programs that do the calculations are as smart as you:-D I am sure you are correct, but the boffins who wrote the algorithms don't have your… 5 9262 |
