Browse Forums Building A New House 1 Mar 28, 2018 9:49 pm Hi All, McDonald Jones homes has changed name or company in QLD and now they are called Brighton Homes. According to their web site they are backed by MDJ. I like their plans but I am not bit concern to build with a new company because they sometimes disappear in a few years. Does anyone know if Brighton Homes is a separate company or part of MDJ? I couldn't find Brighton Homes on ProductReview web site. So I don't know any good/bad reviews about them. Please let me know if you have dealt with them. Thanks, SHC Re: Brighton Homes QLD 2Mar 29, 2018 12:04 am Hey SHC, Check out Kailies thread she is building with Brighton Homes Miami 31- Brighton Homes- Northern Gold Coast https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?share_ ... are_type=t Re: Brighton Homes QLD 3Mar 29, 2018 5:40 am Thanks Tribe, So far the process has been excellent! We’re only in the early stages but admin has been far less painful than our last build. The HIA contract lists Mac Jones, trading as Brighton as the builder so technically speaking they’re still Mac Jones just with a new name for QLD. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Brighton Homes QLD 5Mar 30, 2018 7:54 am shc Thanks kailie86 . How long did it take you to come to the point where you can submit the plan for council approval? What's their estimated time to build a single story house? We’re not quite there yet. We accepted our consolidated tender on the 7th March. Initial colour studio walk through on the 9th. We had our plan presentation on the 26th and have our colour selections booked for the 5th April. We then do contract signing and electrical on the 16th April. After that we have to submit to our developer for covenant approval and then we go to council. We’ve been told build time is 22-24 weeks. We don’t mind the build taking longer if the finishes are going to be quality. Our current house, the build time was only 11 weeks and there were quite a few shortcuts taken. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Brighton Homes QLD 6Mar 30, 2018 9:34 am Yes that's correct. Don't mind taking longer if the finishes are going to be quality. The good thing is that you can still finish before Christmas! Looks like it's unlikely for us even we start now because we were told Brisbane city council can take 1-2 months for approvals. Re: Brighton Homes QLD 7Mar 30, 2018 9:42 am Yeh, I won’t hold my breath either. Our land is yet to register, the developer has told us late April however our solicitor has said GCCC are pretty slow and she expects it’s more likely June/July so we’ll wait and see. We’ve still got our fingers crossed that we’ll be in by the end of the year. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Brighton Homes QLD 9Mar 30, 2018 9:55 am Yeh, I’m not holding my breath for April registration, although it’s already been delayed a few months apparently so we’ll just wait and see. :-D Modified Miami 31- Brighton Homes https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=91265&f=31&p=1789112#p1789112 Re: Brighton Homes QLD 10Aug 18, 2020 10:50 am Hey guys who is the lighting supplier Brighton uses.
