They were both open and the painter was painting the inside edges of them! Hubby also ran off with my camera today, so I couldn't take any pics. I promise to have some up tomorrow! They will look funny against the grey render, but once that is painted it should be fine, and once I have to 2 large black lights on the portico...even better! JohnAndTarin Gal, John was like "thats our laundry door" LOL i was like "NO its not its stormy's LOL" your colours are very close to our colours great choice hun Haha! Yes we have chosen very similar colours! I just wish I added in a window to the laundry as well...oh well... Your place is looking amazing! I'm terribly envious you get to have a walk around inside, I don't...AND IT'S VERY HARD!! Its only cause I'm up there every day, and mostly when the trades are up there working. I'm sure they will be glad to finish this job as each day they must say to themselves herr she comes again LOL. I'm up there 3- 4 times a day as i was with the last build. We have said that we dont need a pci as we are there every day and we talk to our ss at leats once a day as well. Not yet, Southies. I did find some reasonably priced ones, but they are an antique black, with bits of gold on them and not quite what I am after. I did see some that were about $500 each...but,somehow, I don't think so!!!! mundie mansion I love the paint colour Stormy, it is really warm Thanks MM! Hubby wanted something with a bit of depth to it, not wishy washy..and I hope it's not too dark! It does blend in well with the kitchen, though, and has the same creamy warmish feel! I think it will be a nice contrast with the white doors and woodwork. JohnAndTarin Its only cause I'm up there every day, and mostly when the trades are up there working. I usually drive past twice a day..sometimes 3 times if anything interesting is happening! But because it's all mostly inside and I can't get in, it's down to once a day now, if that. It's also dark by the time my husband gets home and/or often raining. The site is full of mud, and it's difficult to get to see through the windows because of the 'lap pool'. I've sort of lost the whole excitement of it at the moment as I'm just so over it all... Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Love that curved wall I too am hanging out for the pics of the front doors Hope that they are not too far away I have some pics, Tillie, and I am hopeing they have just been undercoated in black....BECAUSE THEY ARE MATT, NOT GLOSS.... It clearly states in my colour documents "Taubmans Ultra Gloss Enamel in Night Sky" ...come to think of it, the laundry door is meant to be "Taubmans Ultra Enamel Gloss in Paperbark" and it looks suspiciously matt too. I am quietly fuming, but won't say too much unless it is just undercoat/primer and I make a fool of myself... Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Recently you have been plastered and rendered, but next you will be fixed Jam sessions indeed!! There's plenty of room. I'm not sure what state I'll be in either...possibly in a straight jacket rocking in the fetal position under the stairs. The plastered part was fun! The render started cracking and got itchy everytime I moved. Not sure I really want to be fixed just yet!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Matt jdefinitely won't cut it Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle.**RENDERED!!!** 992Jul 14, 2009 1:19 pm My question is: Is it 'normal' to paint a black high gloss door with matt undercoat (in black) before the final gloss coat?? Would an already primed (green) exterior door need to be undercoated again? This doesn't explain the matt on the laundry door which is a fairly light colour, and was 'green' to begin with too... I love the black doors!!! Not too sure about the painting but our doors have been varnished but not to a very good standard at all so I'm not sure if they come back later to do a 2nd coat?? which might be with yours too? I'm going to wait till our next meeting before I mention anything. Silly question, but did it specifically state gloss finish in the colour contract? Good to see the progress in the painting! We have finished and the tiling has started. Alarms and air conditioning vents were installed yesterday so it's moving along - just so sllllooowwww.... One of the doors was locked over the weekend so we went through the house with a fine tooth comb and there's a number of little patches they will have to fix. Now this is where the fun begins...... We too have started packing and I think it's the first time we have actually enjoyed it! Moving into our dream home!! Good luck! Building our dream home - H3nley Ascot 384 Painting done - electrical, alarm and tiling being completed!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=17939 Re: The Story of Stormy's Castle.**PAINTING UNDERWAY!!!** 994Jul 14, 2009 4:34 pm Hi Macca, Yes, it specifically states "Taubmans Ultra Enamel Gloss in Night Sky". I also noticed that the frame around the door is to be "Taubmans Timbertop Colour in Night Sky". Now, I am 'assuming' that the timber frame is in a matt paint, as all the infills above doors and alfresco beams are all painted matt and it states "Taubmans Timbertop Colour in Paperbark" for those areas. The Laundry door specifically states "Taubmans Ultra Enamel Gloss in Paperbark", yet it looks suspiciously like the matt paint used on the alfresco beams too. I will know for sure when I go and check it all out in about 45 minutes. It 'could' have been used as an undercoat to the gloss enamel, but why when the doors are already primed?? Dunno, but whatever the case they WILL be painted in gloss enamel as stated on the contract. I could be jumping way ahead of myself here, but when you ask for glossy black doors and they get painted in matt paint...it's a real disappointment. Maybe, just maybe, they are leaving all the enamel painting until last... I know what you mean about slow! These last few weeks have just dragged on, and I really wish they would just hurry up and finish the damn thing!! I just want to get on with my life again!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I always seem to jump the gun on a few things and surprisingly 2/3's of the time I'm right. My SS has always said if I see anything wrong to notify him straight away so they can fix it rather then being delayed further down the track. And since you've being dying to see your front doors - I think it's fair! Hopefully since your message yesterday they have painted it in gloss! I just hope they haven't slowed down as they feel they still have time since our contract date is 24th September... I know your contract date is very close to ours too. Not too sure if they have started tiling as we can't see in but I did see a bucket on our balcony last night that hasn't been there. It's just so frustrating when you can't see what they're doing inside!! I hope they come back to make the front doors shiny. They look kind of charcoal without a shiny surface, rather than black. My front doors are a little more glossy than what they were yesterday, but I believe they have only had one coat of gloss, and I shall be demanding they have another if it doesn't get done tomorrow! They look a little stripey and not as shiney as they 'could'. I also spotted a run above the handle...which will most likely be covered by the proper handle's back plate...but that is beside the point! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ ...but at least the missing linea bands which will be rendered have been added to the bottom of the portico piers. The laundry door is also looking glossier than it did the other day. Not too concerned if this has only had one coat, as it's not a major feature of the house. There is a gap, and I'm not sure how it can be fixed. It also appears that the matching left side is nice and neat. The corbelled course of bricks on the left side is closer to the edge of the eaves and guttering that what the right side is. This has gone unoticed before due to the dark bricks, but the rendering has brought out the imperfection..so to speak. The plasterers still need to come back and install the cornice in the garage, then that plus the render needs to be painted, or the final colour coat put on...not sure what they do!
