I'm yet to do my colours appt but I have visited dons tiles (sydney supplier), there are standard tiles you pick from. When you attend your tile appt you will be shown the standard ranges. Quite a lot to choose from but it depends on your taste. Upgraded tiles, glass, stone etc is available but is extra. THanks jol0. I was wondering about tiles too, because that & kitchen layout options/splashback not in our customer selection folder. All I know is that there's the 3 options that the initial saleslady showed us at the display home. We have our colour apt now confirmed for 15/3/16 - yahoo! just waiting now for the next appts for the rest, but would be nice to be a bit more prepare. You will need to do a separate tile appointment to select these. Just a warning...it can become overwhelming. We did a drop in visit to have a quick look at their range at dons...it's extensive! Be prepared with pictures of tiles and designs you like and take these with you. Also. .budget it can get very you expensive very fast! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 9625Feb 10, 2016 7:43 pm I'd drop by dons before your appointment and spend as long as you want in there. We went several times. They explain the ranges and the tiers that are delineated by different coloured stickers. Red is standard which is a tile that is circa $25/m2 and then they go up from there. If you pick a standard tile don't forget areas that aren't included in the yes package like alfresco or if you go floor to ceiling tiles you also have to add labour on top to ensure your budget is enough. Labour is almost triple the tile price https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 9626Feb 11, 2016 3:16 pm Thanks MGardz and Jol0. All the stuff ups and slowness has been M's fault, nothing on our end. As soon as you sign the contracts they have terrible customer service and they know they've locked you into a contract that you can't get out of, so they take forever to do anything I wonder if anyone from M reads these posts ? Hey Jim, pull your head in mate or your business is going to go down the drain! MartinsHarmony - We probably went a bit overboard on our AC upgrade 20KW Actron 6 zones and we paid some ridiculous money to get the App to control it. The upgrade cost $9000. Our house needed 24.16KW to run the entire house at the same time. Our house is a big 37sq 2 story. We decided to get the 20KW because we would never ever run the entire house at once and even if we did it just wouldn't run as effectively. So that is why I added all the zones. Our guest room and our bedroom won't be turned on much. Fisher75 - I had to go google tiger tails What a drama! redwynne - We are going to Singapore and Thailand. It should be interesting with all 3 kids Last time we went overseas I lost one of my kids on the foreign beach! It was the longest 10 minutes of my life! Whats your feeling, do you reckon we will be in before Xmas ? Mgardz - I hope you're at least indulging in some yummy food at these wineries MMeadows - If you do a tile splashback then yes most nice tiles are expensive. My kitchen splashback tiles were the most expensive in the shop at $450/sq. We spent $12,000 upgrading tiles for the 3 bathrooms and the kitchen splashback and that didn't include any floor to ceiling tiles except the showers in the main and ensuite bathrooms. Defiantly do at least once visit before your tile appointment. You guys all talk about drinking taking the pain away dealing with M. Well I have a confession to make. Back in the tender stage we added a glass splashback behind the appliances the same as the display home as we didn't want tiles. The cost was $2,500 but as it was included in the tender we didn't have to worry about it at the tile appointment. I agree with others here, the tile appointment is extremely important and time consuming, take your time and go out there a few times to get your head around things before the appointment. We actually had two appointments as it was too hard the first time. We went with the standard tile height as we are planning on buying more tiles and having them put in post handover to avoid M's mark-up. I thought the standards tiles were pretty good and the upgrade to the next level wasn't all that expensive - $300 per bathroom. The only dissapointment was that the classic black & white combo was withdrawn as Don's couldn't get the black tile anymore - so we had to choose again for the main bathroom. SV-E when we signed the contract in August I thought we would be moving in well before Christmas this year, but there have been so many delays I'm not sure now. The council cost us 12 weeks because they were 'busy'. I wish I could meet M's draft person and ask if they can read. We sent the plans back so many times due to errors & the next set would have one issue fixed but not the others. It's almost like their attention span only covers one task. End of rant. The demo continues, there were three hard working destruction artists there at 7am removing more of the Ice Palace. I'm hoping we can hand over the bare block to M next week. The curse of Dons continues. Yesterday was the big day apparently when the "tilers" finally finished off what was left of the tiling. Stupidly believing that this was it, went by the house preparing to crack the non alcoholic champagne to celebrate the end of over three months of pestering/ranting. But what do you know? It seems the only put up another box of tiles and left. To say that I am rather peeved is putting it mildly. I have many rude words for the good people at dons. Many!!!!! They are the most incompetent company I've ever had the misfortune to come across. Word is they didn't finish as they had run out of tiles... I mean who would think that they would have made sure they had enough tiles to tile the only thing they needed to tile? It's good to see that M are fixing your issues now, not when you've already moved in. MMeadows - We chose to do stone for splashback so it continues on from the bench. Not sure on cost but it seemed reasonable. A lot of our choices were made during the tender process as we knew of some of the things we really wanted. I agree with others here... we had 2 appointments with Dons after many many MANY visits to their showroom deciding on what to get. It's not an easy choice as the tiles have to go with the cupboards, stone benchtops, etc. Fisher75 - We have timber flooring upstairs and tiles downstairs. Is this moisture problem prevalent for tiles too? S-VE - Do you need to have the house wired up for the air con app? So if we didn't think about it before and want it now could we get the app?? Wow and I thought our floor tiles were expensive and they were a quarter the price of your kitchen splashback ones! Hang in there... Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 9636Feb 13, 2016 8:29 pm Finally happy news! My tiles have been done. It's a miracle! But one quick question. On my tile schedule it says threshold tile. I'm assuming this is the front step/ ledge near the door? I've got a tile picked for that area but no tile. Is this normal? Or will dons be trekking their way back up? The Actron wireless control uses an additional sender/receiver unit, it looks like a customised internet router. http://www.actronair.com.au/residential/actronconnect From what I can see it will plug in to their current model airconditioners, so you can order it after installation of the airconditioner if you want; however it may want its own power point near the aircon unit.
