Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 961Aug 17, 2014 10:28 pm Hi Lauren, thanks for popping in again! Yes I had the last one (More Times) tucked away for safe keeping because of the detailed history of 'Fernville' and it looks as luck would have it, I can't remember where that safe place is lol, so I may have to get a photocopy from you if you have it. Yes it was Mike Campbell, I only spoke to him over the phone but he's a lovely man and your right...it's a small world and you never know who you'll catch up with. I reckon you'll be in waaaaaay before November, (3months)...that's probs only as a precaution that they give you that time frame. Your certainly on the tail end now that the cabinets are starting to go in. I thought they were, as I saw some action the other day when I noticed the truck out the back of the house. No doubt your super excited with it all? Oh wow, you have Brian yay. He was brilliant when he did ours and kept us on par and even when it got to pretty much days before handover, he made sure that trades were there to do what they had to do no questions asked, can't get better than that. I hope the rest of your journey travels well keep me posted Michelle Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 962Aug 25, 2014 8:39 am Good morning all, hope you had an enjoyable weekend. Great news for those who are unaware, we're all having our trees delivered for the nature strips as we speak....woohoo. I've never been more excited in seeing a tree (free),not sure of the species and whether they're the same as the ones in Bona Vista but any tree will do me yay! Ally, yours is just in time for when you move in woohoo and on that note, it looks as tho the weather will be kind for you this weekend going by the forecast, best of luck with the move! Have a great day neighbours x Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 963Aug 25, 2014 10:54 am We were only talking over the weekend about when we might see some street trees!!! That's brilliant! Are you moving in this weekend Ally? Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 964Aug 25, 2014 11:07 am I'll have to go for a walk this afternoon to see the trees. I haven't been advised if Quarry St will receive any trees. Thanks for the update Michelle. Hope everyone builds are progressing well and those who have their keys are settling in well 😃 Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 965Aug 25, 2014 12:33 pm Does anyone know the the type of trees they are planting? Some are in flower now whereas on Moorhen st where we are building they look to be different Building Havana MJH Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 966Aug 25, 2014 12:42 pm Are the trees going in on Moorhen already? Gosh, they're doing a whole lot aren't they? Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 967Aug 25, 2014 12:50 pm I think from memory some are magnolias and the other is one is a plant I would like for our back yard and I can't think of it for the life of me 😁 Nice blossoms. Woohoo! Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 971Aug 25, 2014 3:25 pm Ask and you shall receive I've just spoken to the guys planting the trees, see the following information: Fernadell Drive- will have - LUSCIOUS - Tristaniopsis laurina DESCRIPTION: Lush and dense form HEIGHT & WIDTH: 7m-12m x 5m POSITION: Full sun to part shade CARE: Best in warm moist position USES: Street tree, garden feature, shade tree SOIL TYPE: Well drained to heavy clay loams Source: OZBREED Categories: Plants Native Plants Product Description A vastly improved form of the Tristaniopsis laurina, features leaves almost double the size of the original with a lush, shiny appearance with coloured new growth. Features: Narrow columnar shape. Masses of showy white blossoms in spring. Reddish-purple autumn colour. Hardy Applications: Widely useful. Narrow sites with restricted space. Streetscapes and avenue plantings. Gardens. Lawn specimen tree. Description Distinctive for its narrow shape, masses of white spring flowers and delightful reddish-purple autumn colour, the varieties of ornamental pear that Torbay Treefarmers cultivate are widely suitable to temperate Australian conditions. A beautiful specimen, they cope with a wide range of sites including quite dry conditions, slightly alkaline soils, urban demands, air pollution and are less prone to the structural issues faced by other earlier ornamental pear varieties. The narrow canopy spread makes it useful for restricted spaces like parking bays, narrow medians, tight garden positions or avenue plantings while its symetrical shape can be used in more formal landscapes. Typically deep roots but also laterally spreading. Might drive home the long way this afternoon 😃 Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 973Aug 25, 2014 5:23 pm Oh I looooove Crape myrtle's, such a beautifully lush tree....dont like the mess they leave behind tho lol Careful driving, we've had a bit of a storm which has just past but the roads are still wet. Re: Anyone building in the Vermont Estate at Pitt Town? 974Aug 25, 2014 5:34 pm Just drove past. Noticed that some trees aren't centered to the blocks. I feel for the Santa Ana lawn. Are they council trees? Or provided by the Estate?
