Not to get your hopes up or anything but when my liaison person said the tiler is starting next week (that was on a Thursday too) I found out from the SS the following Wednesday he was finished! Do don't be surprised if they have already started tiling now Build Permit-17/12/13 Earthworks-13/1/14 Slab-30/1/14 Frame-10/2/14 Lock Up-7/3/14 Fixing Stage Complete-20/3/14 New Home Presentation-6/5/14 Moved in 17/5/14! Our client liaison has emailed us to let us know the house is to be wrapped and the plasterer is going to start next week! No word on bricks… but our SS said it was going to happen at the same time. The first coat of paint is on! The tiler hasn't started but the tiles are on site waiting for him!! I asked our construction manager today for a rough estimate of handover and she reckons mid-late June! Which puts us 4 weeks longer than I thought based on the whole '6 weeks from when the tiler starts'... But I reckon they are just being cautious and it may still happen sooner than that (fingers crossed anyway!)... Was told early this morning that the bank made a mistake so we had to get an additional $10k on top of the $4k that we already forked out! We had to go all the way to the city to handover the cheque! I still can't figure out how this happened. Something to do with the fees.... I just reviewed it again tonight and I think I understand better now. What I don't get is why some didn't have to pay that much. Is it because of Deposit Assist perhaps? Now, I wish we availed of it. That $10k was meant for appliances/furnishings. Oh well... Congrats on settlement though! At least you know that 10k has gone into YOUR house and YOUR land. I did deposit assist, it's interesting though because even with that we have still paid out 10k (on top) in bushfire levy, heating upgrade, rates, fees and pre-start all up. Without the deposit assist I wouldn't have been able to do it for a few more years and would have wasted more than that on rent. That's what I weighed up. Blog: http://dandesbuild.blogspot.com.au Re: Anyone building with Homebuyers Centre in VICTORIA? 956Apr 07, 2014 8:33 pm Thanks pooks! The 14k is only the shortfall for settlement. We had already paid around $8k for the deposit, as well as the variations. Before any of this, I honestly, genuinely thought we only need 3k for the deposit. Hahah. Regarding the bushfire, we are currently not in the zone but some of our next door neighbours are. So if that gets changed again, I will definitely start to really freak out. Congrats on site start date I too have good news...my partner rang the SS today to arrange a walk through which we are going to do on Friday morning. The SS said that the taps have just been fitted to all of the vanities/showers/bath (so they are obviously in too!), the laminate flooring is going down tomorrow and the carpet on Friday. The stone benchtops are going in next week and then a few bits and pieces. The SS said that our formal completion inspection should take place in about 2 weeks so all up- that's a 15 week build!
