We ended up choosing Orpheus. Wonder how that will turn out! Lol Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 9123Mar 06, 2015 6:53 am Fingers crossed Nat & Dan - that today is the day!! We are thinking of going Orpheus also as we havent heard good things about the "Urban One" range - apparently it seeps out a yellow colour or something from too much iron in the brick - has anyone had any experience with this? We would love to have gone the "Silver" in that range - but decided against it... I have never heard of this yellow colour coming out of the brick. This has now got me a little concerned. I know a lot of people seem to use the Pepper brick. Has anyone had any problems with this??? Cheers Hi J & A, We got Everyday Life Freedom (our land isn't registered yet) But if you go out to Austral they can give you a list of homes being built with those colour bricks so you can go and have a look at them. That being said, I would love to see some pics as well Re: McDonald Jones Homes - The new thread 9128Mar 06, 2015 12:33 pm KristyLee J and A Does anyone have a picture of a home completed with Austral Everyday Life Bricks (Freedom)? We're still being buggered about and waiting to get a shovel in the ground. It's taken a long time and as many will know the $ figure keeps going up at every turn. Without going into detail, we have a potential 100 year flood impact on our site and it's been a bit of a nightmare, from initially McDJ missing this entirely and not realising council needed a flood report, to that report taking best part of 2 months, to getting a ballpark on the recommendations of that report taking another month, only to require further surveys and reports (another month), all the while feeling like it's been left entirely up to us to deal with – argh! We're feeling a bit over it and like nobody really is taking ownership of our project. And in the end the impact on what we build might be such that we have to walk away entirely and sell the land, and start again! I'm known for being the most laid back person within a 500km radius, but I'm beginning to crack.. From my understanding the issue you mentioned is no longer the case as Austral have stopped sourcing their brick from QLD.
