Browse Forums Building A New House Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8921Dec 05, 2015 12:18 pm Fantastic news Mgardz. Hopefully they'll be true to their word and have you in your new house before Easter. Here's some "surprising" news that I forgot to share yesterday… there are scratches on the glass on our sliding doors. The worst culprits were the panels that are a part of our 5.5m wide sliding doors. They were stored for months on a corner of a bricked pillar on our alfresco. Hmmm forgot about the windows. Arghhhh Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8922Dec 05, 2015 12:31 pm What a cost to M each time the glass on those alfresco sliding /stacker doors needs replacing (ie almost every build). Ours are tall & wide - 5 out of 6 replaced furst time around (due to scratches), all 6 second time around (due to colour issue .... At a cost of ???? I would say around $2k or so? 2013 1st tender 24/10 Dep. 18/11 2014 5% 25/02 CDC approval 5/5 Demo 26/5 Pool 3/7 Valid'n 10/7 Slab 11/8 Frame 19/9 Bricks 23/10 2015 Roof 3/12 Lock up 11/2 PCI 31/3 Final insp. & keys 30/4 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8923Dec 05, 2015 8:20 pm Redwynne good luck getting that glass replaced. Is that light switch behind the door on your plans? MGardz like V our house was no where near completion at PCI. They rushed it through as it was the end of the financial year and we also held off getting keys in the hope of them fixing everything a bit faster. Our 90 day list is due very soon and I'm pleased and a little surprised our list is not that long and mostly cosmetic things so maybe it paid off. Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8924Dec 06, 2015 6:01 am Just caught up on the last 10 pages. Wow things are either moving very quickly for some and slow for others. The light at the end of the tunnel, we picked up our keys (and hideous towels) yesterday from head office! We have started the move in already. We have made Christmas and I'm extremely happy.. Our final inspection report looks like an essay, but these things can be fixed around us moving in. Enjoy Christmas in your new place https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8927Dec 06, 2015 3:06 pm Looking at building with Masterton and possibly looking at Harmony Elite F. Which has the 4 Bedrooms with additional Ensuite to 4th Bedroom. Also possibly the Symphony Twin. I am trying to decide which one would be suitable as I need to have an office at the front of the house with a toilet and storage etc. The Harmony Elite F I would then have Bedroom 4 as the main bedroom. I am looking to see who built or is building either of these to get their feedback and what modifications you made. It's great that you guys made it before the Christmas shutdown. MGardz and Bleaky- Hopefully D gets his act together with our place too. Although after speaking to him today I'm unconvinced. We are currently up to the painting stage with 3 weeks of contract time left. I made an extensive list of things that still need to be done and got in contact with the CC today after being told last week by the SS that only painting was booked in for our house for the year. Our CC then called the SS and was told he should have us at PCI in one and a half weeks. In a week and a half they only need to do both internal and external electricals, internal plumbing (taps, bath etc...), shower screens, garage door, finish painting, hills home hub and air conditioning. Not to mention flooring and driveways after PCI. This should be interesting... I actually feel sorry for the CC stuck in between. A few hours after this convo with the CC, the SS told me he has no idea about PCI due to stortage in trades (he needs to stick to one story). This will get very interesting I think. Hopefully this all ends soon and we can farewell M. I really feel for everyone else going through this build process. Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8930Dec 07, 2015 5:44 pm Edmondss not like that on the same wall. Our external garage wall has skirting to floor level but the other two walls it's to the top of the slab. To be honest we have so much junk in the garage now I doubt I will ever see the skirting again!! Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8931Dec 07, 2015 5:47 pm CathyP , If you are looking for a home office where customers visit , personally i would go with the Symphony Twin. You can then have a separate entrance and use that lounge room as a reception area & the bedroom as the office. If I were a client I think I would feel more comfortable coming into an area that looks like a dedicated office rather than into the front of someone's home. I don't really have many clients visit so would not be so much a problem which was why I was thinking of the Harmony Elite with the office at the front. This seems to be a newer design we are going to look at the display home in Leppington but the Symphony Twin is not on display yet until early next year I was told in Oran Park. The person on the phone told me to use my imagination. I have seen the Symphony at Warwick Farm just want to see it with the separate entrance. Although after speaking to him today I'm unconvinced. They gave me the same story about trade shortages and prioritising number of builds coming to handover before Christmas. I told them that's not our fault if M can't manage the number of clients they take on and/or the pool of trades they have. We just want our house done. Waiting weeks and weeks without work is ridiculous. Cc was really nice though I hope they don't rush you to PCI. If I were you and I know there's lots of work to be done even when they want to lock in PCI I wouldn't agree to do it until it's closer to actual completion. They might be wanting to bill you before Christmas, get their money this quarter and get out of having to pay you the $50 per day in over run past shut down period! https://mandgbuildatmulgoarise.wordpress.com/ Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8935Dec 07, 2015 6:48 pm Can someone please tell me the pgh brick prices for upgrades? Mgardz, your blog was super helpful with austral prices..just wondering what the pgh options and price tiers are? I'm pre planning our brick choices before colours. Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8936Dec 07, 2015 7:07 pm Hi jo10, Obviously it depends on your house size as to the upgrade cost but we upgraded to the diamond range in PGH with blue steel flash and it cost $6600 for the synergy. As outside the living areas, i didn't care .... & like BB, we can't see it now as hidden by bunnings shelving. I agree it looks silly .... But i suspect it is a common garage occurrence that we have never noticed before because, lets face it, how often did we examine/notice garage skirting before we built a house!!! 2013 1st tender 24/10 Dep. 18/11 2014 5% 25/02 CDC approval 5/5 Demo 26/5 Pool 3/7 Valid'n 10/7 Slab 11/8 Frame 19/9 Bricks 23/10 2015 Roof 3/12 Lock up 11/2 PCI 31/3 Final insp. & keys 30/4 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8938Dec 08, 2015 4:59 am Jamisonmac - Congrats, I'm glad you're extremely happy and can enjoy the festive season in your new home. jol0 - We are building the Villina Elite and for PGH Diamond brick we are paying $9,166. I'm annoyed we didn't put the bricks into our original first tender. We added it at colours and they had gone up $500 in price. We found the Austral bricks upgrade prices an absolute joke. I really loved an Austral brick but it was going to cost $19,000 to upgrade. I still think that $9,000 is too much to pay. If you are planning on rendering you can use standard bricks where you want to render to save some $$$. We are rendering a small section at the front and I forgot to change it to standard brick. We finally have some action on our block!!! The peg out has been done. Currently waiting on the construction plans to arrive. I bet any money they haven't done the changes we asked and it will have to go back to drafting and take another week to be finalised. We finally have movement on our block! We have a slab as of last week ? so damn exciting!!! Does it take long to start with the framework after the slab is laid? Also, in terms on invoices, does masterton wait for the bank to pay each invoice prior to commencing next step? This wasn't made too clear to me! Co grats on everyones progress coming up to xmas 😊 Re: Masterton Homes - The next thread 4.0 8940Dec 08, 2015 9:26 am Hi all! Long time follower of this thread and first time poster! My wife and I are first home builders and purchased our block at Oran Park in December 2013! After a wait that felt like a life time for registration we're finally moving with the build! I must say I've been pretty impressed with Masterton so far =] Our slab was poured late September and we've moved a long pretty quickly!! The frame is up and the windows are all attached! The roof tiles have been laid and capped and today our bricks started being laid so we're thrilled!!! I was just wondering how long it usually takes for Masterton to finish the bricks? We're building the Symphony and I could see that they've started this morning! 4 17197 i imagine you also have another contract with an architect? and yeah, whatever other's said about special conditions and appendices 16 16613 Hi all I am looking to run a water line under my concrete footpath which is directly next to my home, was seeing if this is possible without cutting the entire section… 0 20696 |
