Let me know what time you will be there if you would like to meet up Re: The Range Estate - Croydon.....Anyone else Building ther 862May 22, 2011 3:54 pm Hey Everyone, Great to hear on the progress on everyone's houses and blocks. Sadly a week of rain to come, but have been noticing quite a few subbies working on the weekend. Housemouse, yours is coming along beautifully!!! Looks fantastic! Natmai, your house seems to be coming along quite quickly, on par with Dandav. Not sure if it's the same people working on your houses, but they are certainly competing against each other! Hope it's all going well And thanks for the blinds link. Definitely a luxury that won't be happening straight away! We're focusing on driveway and floors at the moment, then fences and blinds. But still quite a way to go. No roads yet in Stage 8, but it seems to be coming along quite well. Still June we are told, who knows if that will happen, but it's getting there. If anyone has any advice for getting rid of trees, that would be great. We will have to do that for our block, and hopefully get it sorted as quick as possible so B can start building ASAP! We still won't be in till middle of next year most likely but as long as there aren't too many more hold ups we'll be ok! Cats are going a bit crazy in a 2 bedroom unit, they won't know themselves in a double storey house!!! xdc351 sounds like you are getting the tree stuff all sorted, somehow! Might need your advice later on. Who did you use to get approval to get them removed, and then get them removed? The house you are building, is actually one that we were seriously looking at, but didn't end up choosing. I'm sure yours will look awesome! Good luck and fingers crossed for not much rain! That wooden feature you have running down the front of your house looks really cool! Eskay40 I hope yours continues on. Looks good so far with the frame. Bring on the roof and bricks hey! Karmaz I’m so glad to hear you are getting closer with the fence drama! CNIC what block have you bought? Congratulations on the purchase. Have you decided on a builder and a house yet? As you can see from the forum, everyone’s becoming good friends and keeping an eye on each other’s blocks/houses and progress. Will be great to know people by the time everyone moves in Nezza, how are you guys going? Have you had to do anything else with B or are you just waiting for the land like us? We’ve changed a few selections in the last few months and are very glad we did. What B house are you building? Will be great that two are going up in the same stage. I wonder if there are any others in The Range. Noticed a few Burbank and other builders representation lately that haven’t previously been there. Have you noticed you have your road done? Well, not ashphalt but at least the whole block is cut and scraped and pipes done. Daniel (peachy063) which block are you building on and have you chosen a builder yet? I hope it’s all going smoothly. Happy Building! Hope everyone's build is going well. I have a question for people who have moved in already. Im looking to get the internet connected but im having a lot of trouble getting what i want. A couple of the big providers have told me that Naked ADSL 2+ is not available in the area because of the lines installed in the estate. Its hard to believe that they would have installed old technology in a new estate. Anyone else had any problems or got any suggestions. i really dont want to have to pay line rental for a phone line im not going to use. Thanks Re: The Range Estate - Croydon.....Anyone else Building ther 866May 23, 2011 12:16 pm catlover Daniel (peachy063) which block are you building on and have you chosen a builder yet? I hope it’s all going smoothly. Hi catlover, We have already built and have moved in a few months ago. We are 28 Norris Circuit. Wasnt all smooth sailing but are happy to be in. Where is your block? Re: The Range Estate - Croydon.....Anyone else Building ther 867May 23, 2011 6:37 pm Hi Daniel, That's great! We are block 813. We did a walk through of our hosue last week, and its looking amazing! It was great checking out the rooms, man they feel huge. Even with all this rain our builder is moving forward. I haven't been up to the range at all this week so no idea if we have any bricks layed or if roof tiles are on. But we do have a pile of sand in our driveway Discovered that we are goign to have to get a retaining wall down one side of the house, which is fine by us. So need we need to get a few quotes. Soo fellow ranges, can anyone suggest a good company? Nat, Claire & Greg.. did you guys get to meet on the weekend? Have your trees gone and Nat hows you're place coming alaong? The hosue across from us seems to be goign up quickly! Everyone else.. how's the build going? cheers, Danni Simonds Contract: Sept 2010 Settled 16/11/11 Now 2012 - landscaping Mothers Day Classic https://register.eventarc.com/sponsor/view/76555/danni-salden Re: The Range Estate - Croydon.....Anyone else Building ther 869May 25, 2011 1:36 pm Hi all, our trees got removed last Saturday which was very exciting. We got to our block at about 8.40am with coffees thinking we will watch them come down - and they were already down when we got there. But still was exciting to see them finally going. Waiting results of final soil test and survey from Monday - and then hopefully if there are no changes we will get a site start soon. Dandav - great to hear your place is going well. With your retaining wall is it in view of the street? We have the same issue but ours is visible from the street and its our entirely length of our block and the estate only gave us 2 options - stacked rock/stone or rendered concrete. We actually found the stacked rock was a cheaper option, but we are still looking at around $10k or so for the wall. What are you guys going to build yours out of as I've noticed some people in the earlier stages have built a timber retaining wall? Nat/Lot 306 - We missed you both last week, hopefully we can meet you both shortly (and maybe we will at least have temp fencing up ) Claire and Greg #34 The Range Blvd Blog : http://cleoontherange.blogspot.com/ PCI-27th January 2012 Final Inspection-24th February 2012 Settlement-.....booked for 28/2 with moving on the 29/2 Re: The Range Estate - Croydon.....Anyone else Building ther 870May 25, 2011 11:20 pm Daniel, I tried other providers and was told only Telstra could connect us. If the entrance to the range has any water on the road that they will call it a "rain day" they have done nothing so far this week and they had the slab booked in for the 20th of may but they haven't finished the plumbing yet!! ohh well I better not get anymore letters asking for time/money iv almost had enough and we haven't realy started yet!! Re: The Range Estate - Croydon.....Anyone else Building ther 872May 26, 2011 5:35 pm It's been ages since I have posted on here! xdc351 - Congrats on the trees coming down, hubby and I went to the block on Saturday and saw the tree loppers packing up and leaving. YAY! As for the retaining walls, we are in the same boat as you. We need a wall down the Scurry Dr street side, and I was told by Mervin that we could only use the Coldstream rock or a rendered wall. HOWEVER, I was driving along Norris Cct, and I saw a corner block that has a wood sleeper retaining wall facing the street. WTH?? So I have taken a pic of it, and intend to send it to Mervin with a please explain. There may be a perfectly logical explanation, but it's not fair if someone isn't abiding by the same set of rules as everyone else. How long is your retaining wall going to be? So it was $10k for the rock? AFM, we are at lock up! So we should be moving into the Range by September hopefully. Re: The Range Estate - Croydon.....Anyone else Building ther 873May 26, 2011 8:50 pm Claire & Greg, our retaining wall will be down one side of our house, and I don't think it will be seen from the street frontage, so I guess we can build it from concrete, stacked rocks or the wood sleepers. Guess we need to consider what's going to be of most value, up front and then also long term. Housemouse - that block you are talking about is diagonal from our block, I did notice the retaining wall the other day, I didn't realize you had to use certain material if your wall is going to be seen from the street. Let us know who you go with Australand. Nat not sure if you've been to your block this week. Popped in on my way home from work yesterday and looks like the brickies have been busy on our blocks Weekend visit here we come. We spoke to Bayside Stone about 12 months ago when we started looking into it as they did all the stone retaining walls and features in the estate and they originally said to us it would be about $7k-$8k for a retaining wall approx 1mtr high and 25mtr long (our block is 32mtr long). We have since realised that the retaining wall we need is probably about 1.2mtr high and we are thinking of extending it along the front of our block to make our front yard 100% flat (probably 40-45mtrs long now) - we know that we have to get it up as soon as the house is finished so we can get fencing as we have a dog. I work in the construction/shopfitting industry and I spoke to quite a few people that said that you should not use a rendered concrete retaining wall as the moisture will crack the wall and bubble the render which you can never fix 100%. Hopefully we can meet you guys soon. We have to put up retaining walls and fences ASAP so the pups are contained. Thanks for sharing your info, I had read somewhere that rendered retaining walls were difficult to get the drainage right etc, so I was leaning more towards the stone walls as well. Also they look really nice! Yes, hopefully we can meet soon! Re: The Range Estate - Croydon.....Anyone else Building ther 876May 27, 2011 10:55 am Hi guys.. It sounds that everybody is progressing well. I'm sorry to hear Lot306 that the weather is affecting the construction. Next week the forecast seems to be pretty good... so maybe it will start. we also have to do a retaining wall on the street side of our lot. We are having a chat with a landscaper next sat to see what can we do. Another landscaper told us that because we do not need a "real" retaining wall because it is not affecting the house we can manage to do some planting and leveling and put the fence on top and adding some decorative rocks.. I don't know. I'm seeing lots of breaching of design and sitting guidelines.. so maybe we can try to get an approval with out building something super expensive. Claire and Greg, I saw the trees coming down last weekend.. was so amazing... now you can start!!! yeah!!! Dandav.. yes we both have bricks going up.. how exciting!!! they are really working fast.. and as fast are the bills arriving...!!! We're also in the process of looking for a swimming pool.. any suggestions.. we do have 2 quotes. So will see how it goes. Have a great weekend..
