Paint probably didn't match the other tins he got from the house up the road
I'd still report him, he won't stop because he's been let off lightly by the builder.

I second this. Definitely report him. A hefty fine or perhaps community service will ensure the lesson is learnt. Re: Our custom home - down slope - Paint returned!! 844Jul 30, 2014 11:22 pm I also feel he should be punished for sheer stupidity. I'm not sure if it was mentioned what camera do you have set up there. I'm thinking about getting one of these :- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/16GB-12MP-Lt ... 0914306821 I'm still getting issues from the neighbours next door who has a bee in her bonnet about my amateur radio mast... yeah, the same ones who threatened to have me charged with trespass if I walked on to their property, yet who have been seen countless times on our block ! Re: Our custom home - down slope - Paint returned!! 847Jul 31, 2014 9:50 am Depends what your budget is. You can get rapid pan, tilt zoom with IR that can do face recognition. In the dark face recognition from 150m away, daytime its like 750m or something like that. Effectively need less to cover the same area. House looking great by the way, Hopefully all gets finished for you soon and then you can actually enjoy it for the beautiful home it is! Not sure what cameras they are. I can ask hubby when he's home. I'm firmly sure we bought them online through some sort of discount buying website. Latest build update: Final coats of render were done today so now it's awaiting the final colour coat. Didn't take photos today but will tomorrow if I head down. What is it with painters!?! The first one went AWOL. The second one started out really well but now he's demanded payment up front. The builder told him he will get paid when the job is finished. He didn't like that so said he's not returning to our house Today whilst we were at the house we noticed he painted the face of our skirting tiles WHY WOULD HE DO THAT!?! The builder said they will clean it off but seriously, what would possess someone to do that!?! Maybe that explains why he wanted money, before we realised his stuff ups! We had another painter out to quote today who quoted $11k just to do the touch ups and paint some external doors and a few architraves. I almost fell over when I heard the price. The builder obviously didn't want to pay that (and I don't blame him!) so now we are hunting for another painter. Our rear fence should hopefully now be going up this coming week. The fencer's wife was in hospital so he's been off work. We WERE hoping to have everything finished this week but the painter has thrown that out of the window unless we can find a team of painters who can get in there ASAP. Have you heard any rumours of your builder going belly up? I'm a little nervous for you but at least the build is almost over Re: Our custom home - down slope - Paint returned!! 855Aug 03, 2014 9:18 am I agree, the thief may also be a tradie that the builder has not paid for another job hence why the builder knows who he is but doesn't want to press charges. Regardless it's not your concern and you're so close to finishing. Re: Our custom home - down slope - Paint returned!! 856Aug 03, 2014 10:43 am Ari All these trades walking off site or wanting to paid upfront makes it sound like some financial issue is happening in the back ground. Have you heard any rumours of your builder going belly up? I'm a little nervous for you but at least the build is almost over I haven't heard rumours but I suppose it is possible! At least we are almost finished, I'd be much more worried if this was months ago. JB1 I agree, the thief may also be a tradie that the builder has not paid for another job hence why the builder knows who he is but doesn't want to press charges. Regardless it's not your concern and you're so close to finishing. The tradie belongs to the new builder who has taken over our build. Apparently he worked for him on commercial jobs - not anymore as he was fired for this. You're right though, it is not our concern and we just need to make sure this place is finished. It's so bizarre how the new painter demanded money upfront. He has already done 2 days work too! He was due to finish up by today but now the new builder is back at square one looking for a painter he can use, his regular painter is tied up on a job several hours away. Re: Our custom home - down slope - Render part one 858Aug 03, 2014 1:23 pm _lucinda I know it is upsetting, but hang in there, it's so close now. Thanks The concrete uncoloured first layers of render have been done to the front of house, retaining wall and garage lintel. It looks so bright at the moment but will hopefully look much better once it's coloured. The renderer mentioned that he has to let the uncoloured render dry for a couple of days before applying the coloured coat. Hopefully he will be back tomorrow or Tuesday to finish. The guttering on one side of the house still has to be replaced as the new gutter delivered last week was scratched as it was taken off the truck. Hubby and the builder are meeting him on site tomorrow morning to run through what needs to be done. We have our window furnishings booked to be installed this Friday so all the painting of the woodwork must be finished by then.
